Chad begins a chapter on Electrochemistry with a lesson on How to Assign Oxidation Numbers (i.e. Oxidation States). Six rules for determining oxidation numbers are presented, and numerous examples have the oxidation numbers of their elements properly assigned using these rules. This includes elements in their elemental form, binary compounds, compounds with more than two elements, elements with fractional oxidation states, transition metals, and polyatomic ions.

Thank you, Chad. You take the time to make it very easy to learn. I wish more professors were like you. I have Exam 3 tomorrow on Chapters 18 and 19 and I have been watching your videos. Wish me luck. I have a C at the moment and hope to stay in the game.

I am grateful for you, dear teacher. I am studying at the pre-university level, and we cover topics at such a fast pace that I struggle to comprehend some concepts. Your videos make everything clear for me, all the information falling into place in my head. 🤓

I was terrified of assigning oxidation numbers before this video. These rules are awesome. Thank you so much. Where did you find them? Or did you come up with them yourself?

Hi, Chad, I found that in the new series of chemistry program, chapter 12 seems missing. What's wrong with it? Could you upload it? Thanks a lot for providing such excellent courses.

Are you a professor? Cuz you've got me taking notes on how to win your heart.
Jokes aside, are you a professor or a tutor capable of making rockets?
