I remember asking a colleague at work if weed was legal in Berlin, he told me:"Legal? Illegal? Scheißegal"

I know this is about German, but I have to say it: Cari looks particularly stunning in this episode ❤️

If you’d be my german teacher, I’d move to germany and be speaking in a month. Your voice is brilliant!

In russisch kann man sagen "gluboko violetowo", wenn man "egal" sagen will. Es bedeutet wörterlich "Deep Purple" :)

My favorite way to say this in English is "I don't give a flying fig" which in German would be: "Ich gebe keine fliegende Feige." Fig is standing in for another word that starts with F. 😂

Does it translate literally as I don’t care? In English it would be impolite to use it, for example, if you were asked what you would like to eat. We would usually say ‘I don’t mind.’

In polish slang we usually say: "Mi to rybka" - "Mir egal". Additionally, this phrase has another but similar meaning as well. It's "Das kümmert mich nicht" :)

That’s funny, in Polish there is a loanword from German: „ganz egal” or alternatively spelled „gancegal”. :) I’ve only heard it once in an actual conversation though.

I suppose the "egal" is a borrowing from French "égal" (same).
In Portuguese we can say "É igual" (it's the same), "é-me igual" (it's the same to me), "tanto faz" (both do), "é indiferente" (it's indiferent).
On informal situations we use expressions associated with shitting a lot, for some reason. "É cagativo" (literally "it's shitable"). If we say "tou-me a cagar" (literally "I'm shiting") it means we don't care at all.

Down here in Brazil we say "Tanto faz" or "Tô nem aí", it depends on the context.

It sounds like "it's all the same to me" would be a more precise translation into English. Presumably "egal" is cognate with "equal"?

In Russland sagen wir: мне всё равно(lang), всё равно(kurz). Und noch zum Beispiel: derselbe Meerrettich; derselbe Hecht, nur mit Meerrettich :) es gibt noch mehrere Synonyme

I'm from Brazil, and here we have an expression "caguei e andei", which means, literally, "I pooped and walked away" 😂😂😂😂 it's shorter version "caguei" is more common. Another, more polite, way to say egal in Portuguese is "estou nem aí", literally, "I'm not even there". But, the more accurate translation of egal would be "tanto faz" ("either way") or "não importa" ("doesn't matter")

In Indonesian, you can say: "Terserah", "Emang Gua Pikirin" or "Bodo Amat", depend on the context/situation.
