Hi Jennifer and thank you for the effort you are doing . I believe that if you are a naturalized citizen, your u.s. passport will indicate your place of birth which will suffice that you are a balikbayan.

Great video. My mum (balikbayan) flew back to the Philippines — she showed her OLD Philippine passport …but still immigrations insisted to only give her 30 day stay. Corrupt Philippine Immigrations officials as usual waiting for her to ‘pay’ . Then Several immigrations officers converged to review the old passport as if she was a criminal.
Philippine immigrations officers should look at themselves… a corrupt bunch - they DO NOT deserve any respect.

Great info. Thank you. According to the Philippine Embassy in the US (Washington DC), if you neither old Philippine passport or PSA birth certificate your US naturalization certificate is also accepted.

I am a filipino but I hate to say this, most of airport employees at naia are “ ingetiro” especially custom and immigration workers.

I was told that former Filipinos who are now US citizens can only stay in the Philippines for 30 days without a visa. So thank you for your information that Balikbayans can stay over 30 days up to a year.

We had the same issues when we went back to the Philippines for a holiday. I am a dual citizen but my adult daughter is not. When we were checking- in at Lhr, the ground crew were asking for health insurance. I explained that the requirements have changed. And we do not need it as things have changed, but she was still insisting that we cannot travel without an insurance. But I stood my ground that we as former Filipinos do not need insurance. Thanx God, she queried it with her superior and she learned that we do not need insurance. So then were given our boarding pass. I am about to go back again in September and I do not know if things have changed again. Especially the RT-PCR tests. I hope these tests will not be required. Thank you.

My partner moved to Australia 30 years ago he wanted duel citizenship back then, but Philippines would not allow that, he worked hard in Australia and sent money back to his family which helps the philippine economy, now we are retired we live in Phillipines permanently, he is here as balikbayan now and we are still supporting the philippine economy, he wants to apply now to get back his citizenship, balikbayans bring a lot of money to Philippines, I'm not sure if the government appreciate this enough.

Thank you for all the useful information you've been giving us in your vlog! It has made my most recent trip to the Philippines seamless. As a dual citizen, I presented both my US and Philippine passports. How long am I allowed to stay in the Philippines as a dual citizen? Indefinite? If I stay a long time in the Philippines (e.g., more than a year), will that pose an issue when I enter the US?

Family of 4 with foreign passport, (balikbayan privilege) arrived in Phil last june 27. Our arrival was smooth and easy. Although I brought our old phil pass just in case, but they did not checked it. Only our vax card and one health pass, it was fast and organize.

btw . If you are going to Korea and are jabbed, you need to take a test. For some reason this was not clear to me on my booking - even if you have the K-pass. I just got refused to get on the plane as I failed the test. Now I want to check more thoroughly wherever I travel.

Hi Jennifer! We can't find up to date advise re travel insurance as a requirement for entry for foreign nationals travelling to Philippines in August 2022. My parents are both flying this Sunday from UK (Mum is balikbayan and dad is French National). Please could you point us to any recent gov mandate or advise here? Many thanks for useful channel!

Jennifer
I have lived In PI for 10 years, built houses, settled down here have Filipina partner, we are together 11 years.
I have to leave every 3 years, now due August so I will leave, go to Singapore, stay 4 days 3 nights, twiddle my thumbs and come home to PI
Total cost including onward ticket, flights, hotel, 29, 000 pesos.

Surely there is a better way ?
I would prefer to stay, take my family to plenty of Holliday spots and come home with change, after spending a great deal of money ( as I do every month ) here where it is needed in Cebu Island..

Love your articles 🙏🙏🙏

everytime I go to pH before the pandemic, . They always give me a BB stamp. US passport states the place of birth.
everything should still be the same.
Pandemic should not have changed this as it's an immigration issue not a Covid issue. Most ppl don't have the old passport because in some cities, they take that away.
