How to recruit Minthara WITHOUT destroying the grove - Baldur's Gate 3

Important: Dror Ragzlin has a special agro tag on him. The second he dies (Even if you "successfully" stealth kill him) the entire base, Minthara Included, will be permanently, and irrevocably hostile. He must be killed LAST, in order to meet the conditions for recruiting her. Learned that after several failed attempts . . .thanks for the vid!

Not one video I have seen ever mentions disabling the war drum first...so THANK YOU! I would steal, get her "temporarily not hostile", knock her out, etc. And then she'd never show up at Moonrise.

Just in case anyone wants absolute clarity on how to do this. Knock her out while being temp hostile like the video says, without having turned all the goblins hostile beforehand and not longresting inside the camp before finishing off whatever you have to do there. Only rest when you leave and have no intention of going back. The easiest way to do that is to steal something in front of her and attack her in the confrontation dialogue that pops up, which makes her and the nearby goblins temp hostile. I would take the scrying eye out immediately just in case it alerts the entire camp.
That's what keeps her alive in act 2 per the new code.

I wanted to reach out and first and foremost compliment Lexy. This guide was perfect and well done and I have, after 3 unsuccessful tries prior to watching this video, SUCCEEDED in recruiting her to my team. Thank you sincerely for that.

I will make note though, just in case, As you get done talking to Kagha about helping the tieflings, do NOT talk to Zevlor after about killing the Goblin leaders. You should be able to just go to the goblin camp and kill Ragzlin and Gut, and knock out Minthara.

Do it in this order, Gut in her chambers alone and quietly. Then free Halsin and leave him there. Go to Minthara and take out the war drum in the corner. Steal her scroll and get her to be temporarily hostile. Knock her out. Then kill Ragzlin. Ragzlin HAS to be last otherwise the whole camp is after you and you won't succeed.

I never went back to the goblin camp after I succeeded. I'm not sure if that influences anything, but I didn't want to risk anything else after not being able to succeed for so long.

This is the single best guide I've seen for recruiting Minthara without raiding the grove 💜

One thing I would add, for those who still want to, I don't know, actually TALK to her when meeting for the first time; don't rescue Sazza, so that Minthara doesn't know the location of the grove yet. After agreeing to help her (which may involve talking to / torturing Liam in the next room over) instead of giving her the location, do a Deception check to give a false location. It's an easy roll, and even on a success she'll say they've already ruled that location out, come back when you have the right location.

THEN you can steal or shank the goblin near her, or whatever you want to initiate combat. Emma Gregory did a phenomenal job, and I wouldn't want anyone deprived of her lines if they have the chance to hear them.

Also one other thing, which can be done even if you rescue Sazza, and I am 99% sure works (I haven't done it myself, but others have reported it working so I'll say, do this at your own risk). If you agree to raid the grove with Minthara, after the cutscene ends she will begin walking toward the entrance to the area. The "Defeat the Goblin Leaders" quest should ONLY update as uncompletable once she leaves the area at the exit to the goblin camp. Which means, as soon as you get out of the cutscene, you can simply attack her while she's walking, which SHOULD (keyword here) initiate a fight where she's temporarily hostile, and where knocking her out still counts.

To make this easier, try going into turn based mode IMMEDIATELY after exiting the cutscene. Depending on how fast your machine loads, she may get further across the bridge that is comfortable to fight her, so be sure to remove the war drum in her office, as well as the one next door, by the Worg Pens door, and be ready to deal with the scrying eye. That SHOULD prevent a war drum activating mid fight and spoiling the attempt.

Is this more complicated to pull off with no real gain? Yes. Will this lose you approval with Wyll and Karlach? Also yes. Is it IMMENSELY funny to backstab her as she's strolling out? That's up to you I guess.

I don't know why this is not working for me... I have done all the things in same order and Minthara is "knocked out (temporarily)". But when i long rest after defeating her, only a puddle of blood and the spider's lyre remains.

*UPDATE* Minthara will be in Moonrise even if her body disappears, so don't worry.

I can attest to this working. I will say, fight + kill the hobgobbo AFTER minthy. With Dror Ragzlin's death, the thread of prophecy is severed and minthy loses the ability to become temp. hostile. Also, I'd highly highly recommend your next long rest (after incapping minthy + killing other goblin leaders) being the teifling camp party triggered by Zevlor through dialogue. For minthy to show up at moonrise, the Defeat the Goblins objective must be completed before your next long rest.
