Megatron and Optimus Share the Same Father in Transformers 2007? I think we can all agree that when it comes to the concept of canon. It really shouldn't be taken seriously in the Michael Bay Transformers films. Because they've been know to contradict themselves at every given turn. Especially during the last 2 installments. But during the beginning of the Bayverse's inception the lore was maticulously crafted. And there were certain things that were expanded upon from the movie. Such as the relationship between Optimus and Megatron. In the first film Optimus calls him brother. Which left us wondering what he meant. But according to the Quest For the ALLSPARK book the two were actually twin brothers of the Prime Dynasty. This, along with the note from the Autobots version of the same DS game that Megatron "took the spark" of his and Optimus's father, implies that “Prime” may have been their father's name and that Megatron may have also had the surname "Prime".

Prime is not a surname. It's an honorary rank provided to the leaders. And Megatron and Optimus were brothers in arms not blood-related. And this father thing is a complete shit.

I like the idea that they were brothers-in-arms, rather than brothers by birth.

And I just looked it up. They were brothers-in-arms, not twins. They were both students of Sentinel Prime and Optimus was Chief of the Cybertronian Science Division. Megatron was the Commander of the Cybertronian Military and resented Orion because he knew Sentinel favored him because he belonged to the Dynasty of Primes. This resentment allowed him to be corrupted by the Fallen.

But technically, all transformers from Cybertron are brothers because they all came from Primus.

But nothing will ever beat the old canon where Megatron was a gladiator and revolutionary and Optimus was Orion, a dock worker.

This is a good Canon because it makes sense that they are kind of related.And he named himself After megatronus prime in the actual source material. So why Not be the son of a prime. Then again it could also just be that he saw him as a brother and they didn't actually have a father at all. Remember they weren't always enemies

Optimus( Orion pax) was a clerk at the iacon hall of records while megatron(megatronus, d-16) was a miner then an gladiator/activist advocating for freedom for all they were “brothers” cause they were best friends
