Dueling protests ahead of Pride event turn contentious at North Hollywood elementary school

At Saticoy Elementary School in North Hollywood, days of controversy over a Pride month event came to a head Friday morning, though it remains to be seen if this will be the end of the debate over teaching LGBTQ topics at schools.

When I was in kindergarten we never had an assembly to feature or celebrate a groups sexuality. Why do kids need to be a part of anyone's sexuality? Why can't they have an assembly that teaches to love and respect everyone and leave sexuality out of it. That would cover the lgbt students and maybe even help to reduce school shootings

I’m gay and I totally understand the point of view of the parents. Kids shouldn’t be included or taught about gender / sexual orientation at school. They should just be kids. They’re free to be who they want to be once they grow up.
