Dustin Wolf put together a 26-save shutout while Joel Farabee scored the only goal of the game to lead the Calgary Flames to a 1-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens.

I believe that the Flames “Checking Line”, that has been centered by 2C/3C Mikael Backlund for so many years is far underrated.
Many players have benefitted from the “Backlund Bump”; Bouma and Mangiapane have been just a couple.
In 2021/2022, the Mangiapane/Backlund/Coleman checking line allowed the first line of Gaudreau/Lindholm/Tkachuk to do near whatever they wanted to during home games.
Unfortunately, I do not see any forwards in the Flame’s organization who are anywhere close to replacing Backlund and Coleman in their 2nd/3rd line checking roles.

I’d pay money to watch Dustin Wolf play. When I heard about this kid I only had access to radio. He was lining up trophies then. Now that he’s in the show I don’t expect to SEE any different. Thank God I get to see this kid in action. Get ready guys. This is the greatest goalie of our lifetime.

When I heard that Laine would be replaced by Pezzetta... It was written in the sky that the Habs would lose. Still, it was only by one goal. So we can be more or less proud under the circumstances. Bottom line: without Laine, Dach and Guhle, even if two of them are disappointing, at some point... You're destined to lose.

I thought the Canadiens played a good game! A good enough game to win! Except for one Wolf! Both goalies played excellent games but Wolf stole the show... and the game! But it was a fun game to it's playoff hockey out there already!
