Before TikTok became a social media phenomenon, there was another Tik-Tok sensation.

In L. Frank Baum’s 1907 novel, Ozma of Oz, Tik-Tok was a mechanical man made of copper and powered by clockwork. He’s often called the first robot in modern fiction, even though the term robot wasn’t used until 1920.
