I have a 2001 IS 300, it has around 410, 000 miles and runs perfect, perfect power, no noises, the only thing wrong was I had to change the transmission oil but if you are thinking about getting this car it will not let you down.

I bought one in November 2000 (the first week they were here in Los Angeles) and was especially drawn by Toyota's advertising that said the sunroof was optional.

I hate sunroofs, and when I got to South Bay Lexus, the salesman said he didn't have any in stock without sunroof. He checked the computer, and there was only one car on the West Coast between San Diego & Seattle, and that was at Longo Toyota.

I drove up to Longo, and I saw their car, which was OK, but did NOT have power seats. Turns out all the non-sunroof cars had only mechanical seats, no power. I wanted power because anybody who gets in the car moves the seats, and then it takes weeks for me to get the damn thing readjusted.

So I ended up with a sunroof. My car just rolled over 100K. Engine is stock, but chassis has StopTech binders on the front axle, Tom's chassis braces, sway bars, and strut braces on the front and rear.

Runs great, looks great, and I have left it to my mechanic in my will. At 87, I don't presently plan to unload it unless some disaster hits. Not as much fun as my RX-7, but nevertheless a pleasure to own and drive.

Always a California car, and parked in a heated garage.

If you bought one for 1700 then resold it to your friend, I would hope you did some reconditioning to it. The only times I ever sold a car for more than I bought it was when I sold it in better shape than I bought it.

they’re sick cars but you’ll wanna have money for maintenance like gaskets, suspension, timing belt /waterpump. Most wont pass smog or have bad cats
