Shoei Neotec 2 Helmet Review

The Shoei Neotec 2 takes the winning DNA from the Neotec 1, and dials it up with an impressive update. A revamped vent scheme allows for better airflow, and changes to the aerodynamics reduce lift and drag. Shoei’s 360 Pivot Locking System locks down a chinbar with a multi-piece EPS liner. Sun in your eyes? Flip down the Built-in QSV-1 inner sun shield. If you’re looking to add Bluetooth functionality, the helmet comes ready to accept the Sena SRL Communication System. Additional features include a micro ratchet chin strap, and all-new Noise Isolator cheek pads.

I've just purchased this helmet and what can I say it's one hell of a excellent helmet. This is my first Shoei helmet and the build quality is outstanding, the comfort is outstanding, the soundproofing with earplugs is amazing. This helmet isn't heavy, it's an average weight. In my opinion it's better than the schuberth C3 Pro, as the Neotec 2 is more comfortable and has a better pinlock (an Evo 120, the best one on the market today). The cheek pads are free to size when fitting, unlike the schuberth where you have to pay for additional cheek pad sizes. I have just ordered the SRL too. If you buy this helmet you will not be disappointed. If you can't afford it arrange finance, it's a must

I have just purchased both the Neotec 2 with the SRL system and the AGV Sport Modular in matt carbon tri-color.

Yes, the Shoei is definitely much heavier. However, the fit and finish of the helmet have a more robust feel to it. The integrated comms is great but can sometimes be a pain to start up as you have to depress the + and centre button simultaneously and with a glove, it can be difficult.

I use the Shoei daily. I like that the fabric area is easy to wash and the leather bottom does not catch onto velcro parts of your riding jacket.

The cons of this helmet are that for those moto vloggers out there, it is difficult to mount a gopro and mic to the chin area. Also, the ventilation is not very good despite claims of improvement. I hardly can feel it when I'm on the move with full vents opened.

The AGV is great for Sunday rides. It can fit a Sena 20S base mount and is easier to mount your gopro and mic. It emulates a little of the Pista R (which I have too) and has great ventilation. However, with great ventilation comes great ambient noise. There's no two ways about it. The downside is that it doesn't feel as sturdy as the Shoei and certain parts of it feels cheap. I guess part of the reason is because it is Made In China vs their Corsa R and Pista R range which are made in Italy.

Overall, both are good modular helmets. I use more of the Shoei because it feels more like a workhorse and something that can withstand bumps and scratches from rough handling. The AGV gives a little more of the bling vanity factor and gives me the feeling I have to take better care of it.

I have just bought one and fitted the Sena mesh system not too difficult but if you do not want the system you have a ready made cash stash in the rear housing so never get caught out when travelling, in UK a £20 note is easily stashed under the foam insert enough for a couple of litres or a burger without trimming the foam..

So, now that the helmet had been out for last 3 years, how do the warranty work on these $700 helmets?

Shoei says 5 years from purchase or 7 years from manufacturer date.

Are they still making them brand new in late 2020 & early 2021?

Am I going to pay $700 for 3 year old helmet with just a 4 year manufaturer warranty?

How do the date of purchase warranty work in this case?

I returned mine. Very comfy on the inside but it had a whistle at speeds about 40mph which would stop if I looked up. It was pretty loud too. My 3/4 helmet was quieter.

That white version looks really good. Shape of the drop down shade looks better and like the overall styling better.

Still running my Multitec. Love it.
Inner sun visor would be nice, for sure.

Best part about your reviews Anthony is your honesty. Its clear that your objective and not taking a hand out from any manufacturer . Another great review. Unbelievably I am trying to decide between a Neotec 2, GT Air 2 and a Spirit 3 I ride a 1200GS but just love the Spirit 3 designs.

I just bought a wine red yesterday (06/14/2021). First ride was tonight. Fit is perfect for my headshape. I love the vents. The faceshield is more easily removed than my GT Air II. I also have a J-Cruise II. Shoeis are just too expensive but if you want the best, they are the only choice.

If purchasing Neotec 2 for the Sena SRL, be advised... Sena SRL Mic / Voice does not work with Freewire on Harley Boom systems. After some run around with Sena, their tech support acknlowledges this is a known issue. Its unfortunate since I purchased 2 Neotech 2's from Revzilla and 2 Freewires ; for rider and passenger.

just got one today, but to anybody who's thinking about getting one go try one on first .
i'm a normal size med my head is 57cm and i bought a size small it fits nicer than the medium which felt loose.
also fitting the visor back on the helmet was a right fiddle after fitting the pin lock . also the visor is so easy to flick up or down unlike my nxr2

At 12:54 into the video you say the price is in the "mid sixes", meaning around $650. But your website has it listed for $699. Why 50 bucks more? Did I miss a sale in the few hours since you posted this video?

Found this review just in time. Don't need a lightweight, just a flip up for my MT09 👍 Thank you RevTeam. We got the point 🙏

I had a Neotec in large and it fit me great then I upgraded to the Neotech II and got a large as well, I was wrong to assume it would fit the same. I had to go down to a medium and add the 39mm pads to get a perfect fit.

Damn this is a comfortable helmet. Tried it against lots of others from AGV etc and this was miles above them and felt like an Arai.

Anthony, you need to evaluate all lids (and especially the Neotec II), as a glasses wearer. The new all enclosed micro climate that Shoei create within this lid is good but as a glasses wearer, if you stop (even for a very short time), your glasses mist and no amount of airflow when moving again clears them. You are constantly lifting the visor to clear. It is a real pain. I had an Arai previously and you can have visor or face venting. On the Shoei it is only visor. Not great. Comm's unit is fantastic and features are good but boy is misting a pain.

Awesome. Great video. At £650 I needed you to go deep into the helmet. And you did! Thank you very much for posting.
