How to declutter books: loan them out. You will never see them again :)

A zero waster part of me is still fighting with my minimalist part :D I want to get rid of so many things, but they might get useful one day and then I'd regret getting rid of these and buying new ones! :D

Old pet supplies and even (still usable) food can be donated to animal shelters! Same with old towels and blankets.

I noticed in your videos you use the phrase declutter, instead of throw away or get rid of. I like that, because it sounds a lot nicer, and allows for the possibility of reuse. What I struggle with is how can the things I declutter still be useful. Not everything can be donated, and many other organizations take very specific things. If you are looking for video ideas, compiling a list of places that all the decluttered items on this list can go to to maximize the benefit it can still have to the world.

I have been spending months purging my stuff & thought I had gone through almost everything. However I have been running around my house while listening to this pulling out more & more stuff that just hadn't occurred to me. This was so helpful, thank you. Subscribed.

My eye doctor collects old glasses to send to kids in developing countries so it’s great to donate them! But make sure you keep your second latest prescription that you don’t wear any more so if your glasses break you will be able to see pretty good until you can get new ones!

People always say to declutter extra buttons but I always keep mine. I even cut buttons off anything that has to be thrown away instead of donated. I like sewing though and I have replaced missing buttons or used them in other sewing projects. Buttons are honestly expensive. So if you really will use them, it's better to keep them than to buy them at a craft store.

My local police station has a drop off for used glasses, which get donated to people who couldn't otherwise afford them. If the lenses aren't scratched and the frames are in decent shape, please consider donating your old eye glasses! ❤

Old clothing can be chopped up to make cleaning rags. Socks are great for dusting and if you have a bike, cleaning the frame and chain. I keep a sock with my bike so if/when the chain falls off, I can put it back on using the sock as a mitt. All hail socks!!!! I also hoard old toothbrushes for cleaning said bike chain.
I live in a very small apartment, my main living space is 189 square feet so I don't have room for anything extra. Every time I read a book, I write a little review in a dollar store notebook (when I started this project 12 years ago I wasn't always by a computer) so I don't clutter up my space with books but still have a record of the book (albeit, I am not into my 14th notebook) but I have a place for them.

Great video! I love the simplicity of your filming set up :)
For me, the main thing that I have taken away from your videos is to only bring things into your life that will bring you joy and will last a long time. Because I got married and moved out of home young, I haven’t really had time to fill my home with clutter yet. So I really want to focus on not filling my home with junk! Thanks for your inspiration ❤️

I am 100% guilty of keeping old boxes, but it's for a good reason I promise! I keep the boxes for my gaming consoles, kitchen appliances, fish tank, etc. because I'm in college and i move on and off campus at least 1-2 times a year and moving always sucks, so when I can pack my appliances into their original boxes it helps me keep track of what is what and it makes moving easier. It's way easier to pack my xbox, games, controllers and cables into it's original box instead of shoving all of those individual items into different bags.

you can use the glasses design and just change the prescription saves money if you still like them

A lot of these ideas are super cool and I never even thought of some of these things as clutter - but this has inspired me to get rid of a bunch of stuff I have lying around, so thanks!

For old promotional shirts for things you were involved in, you could make a patchwork quilt of those memories and have it on display on the back of your couch. Also can be used to cover with if it's a little chilly.

Besides de-cluttering I’ve also made it a point to wear the things I have but don’t usually reach for... so those scarves, those skirts, those bathing suits. If I wear it and don’t enjoy it, out it goes. Great list again! I have so much to do....

Do not get rid of your Birkenstocks, you can get them resoled for about $60 from a reputable shoemaker. I just did this with two pairs of mine. It will save you money and save you from having to break in a new pair.

Scarves and heavy necklaces hurt my neck, so those for me were accessories for "my fantasy self, " I decluttered them. I also have a rule with my earrings they cannot be too heavy either so I test them for heavyness before I buy them.

I needed this push of motivation to declutter my bedroom... had the video playing in the background the entire time. Had total focus. Thank you for posting this.

I feel like getting inspired by the list you have. As a college student, I had too many office supplies and art supplies that my parents bought when I was little and will probably never finish using them so I have been either selling or donating them lately. My dream is to have a minimalist lifestyle and not have so much hustle everytime I move.
