I got excited when I saw this thumbnail, then I realised my two copies of Sliver Queen are in fact sitting in a card binder in my home country. Time to phone home!

At 8:00 you said that the Ur dragon's ability draws you cards and puts that many permanents onto the the battlefield. It just puts 1 permanent, not a number equal to the number of dragons you attacked with.

Man do I regret giving up my magic cards so many years ago. I had a Sliver Queen. Didn't have a functional Sliver deck but it was one my best pulls in a booster pack.

I'm one of those early Magic players that got out of the game many years ago, selling all my power cards, dual lands, etc., only to get back into the game a few years ago and discover that if I'd held on to them, I could now sell them to buy a house. 😆 The only one I still have (mainly because of an oversight) is Gwendlyn Di Corci. Nice to see her near the top of the list. 🙂

2:40 Actually Kozilek the Great Distortion is colorless, costs 10, and is the 78th most popular commander, so there is demand for such a card in the command zone.

I pulled Hazezon Tamar in the DMU collector box that I bought. Definitely wasn't expecting it.

Oh, Jedit Ojanen... :D
As a Finn, that card just never stops being super bizarre and hilarious. Ojanen is a not-too-uncommon surname in Finland, and quite an ordinary and mundane feeling one to boot, IMO, certainly nothing evoking images of legendary fantasy heroes and warriors. At the time typing, there's currently 2786 persons with that name according to the name service lookup at Population Data Services Agency's site. I'd sure love to know how on earth the folks at WOTC picked that name for a Magic card...

I feel really lucky to have 2 copies of Sliver Queen myself, which were in one of the binders I got at a tag sale long ago for just $15 total. They include a bunch of rares, some valuable, and some others less valuable. The most valuable card in them is a Mox Diamond, but I'd say the Sliver Queens are in second place.

As a kid i somhow got my hands on a large number of portal three kingdom cards and since at the time i had no idea on value, most got used for dart practice with steel tip darts. Young and dumb lol Bought my sliver queen when they were $22

The sliver queen price isn't just due to her reserve list statue. Sure, it's part of it, but the price is mostly due to the fact that the sliver queen is the nexus of a dozen of infinite combo that will make you win the game instantly.

It actually makes me happy that I have some if these; the only Eminence deck I didn't get was the Cat one, so I have Markov and the Ur-Dragon. I THINK I have Ulamog, somewhere, but maybe not, and I think the rest of that list is a bust for me. I've always wanted a Sliver Queen, but long ago accepted that, barring proxies, that's not going to happen, but it was neat to see what all comprised this list.

there's another wrinkle to Sliver Queen; you may not see the deck very much, but it's very much a deck about comboing off, as rather than playing Sliver Queen as a tribal commander, many of the decks out there revolving around Sliver Queen in Commander run effects like training Ground, Biomancer's familiar, Ashnod's altar, phyrexian altar, and other tools to net advantage from the infinite ETBs and dies triggers that Sliver Queen immediately causes thanks to her activated ability being cheap and colorless. She had a place in CEDH before the printing of Thrassios, Triton Hero, who gives somewhat more straightforward path to victory via his colorless mana activated ability. The speed of the format has moved beyond what the Sliver Queen could hope to keep up with, but that reserve list status keeps her propped up because the deck can still perform a number of kills off of something like say... Zirda and a Grimm Monolith.

lol did not know. Have a sliver deck in my glove box that i havent played in years. Yes it has a sliver queen.

Teeka's Dragon was too powerful to be a legendary, as it would be run as commander in 100% of all edh decks. Basic lands, wastes aside, prices would plummet. WOTC saved the game with that fateful decision.

Gwendlyn Di Corci, in addition to being a playable card, and on the reserved list, also has artwork that will never be reprinted... even if WOTC drops the reserved list.

Ehehe. I played against Avacyn, but I use permanent creature steals, like Ritual of the Machine and Switcheroo.

I picked up a Hazezon Tamar for a token deck 6ish years ago before it spiked. Im pretty sure i paid less than $100 for it.
There's no way I would have bought it today

I still have a Hazezon Tamar, albeit in French, in my card boxes :) I actually found that card usable in playground magic. While its DIFFICULT to use, the fact that it has Green means the deck he is in has access to mana dorks. While a board sweeper of any kind pretty much deals with it (something as inefficient as "Dry Spell" can reduce the card's threat level by like 90%), it does get imposing in the right board state (i.e you have a Crusade in play) and makes it fun to use.

I actually have a couple of 3 Kingdoms cards... albeit no Imperial Seal or Imperial Recruiter.

Eladamri irritates me tho. When it changed its creature type from "Legend" to "Legendary Creature - Elf Warrior" ... its textbox changed from "All elves" to "All other elves"... so he STILL cannot give himself Forestwalk or Shroud -_- Still, it DOES give shroud to non-creature elves... although I can't think of a relevant one at the moment
