U.S. Army and the Massacre at the Wabash

In the years following independence, the newly-formed United States of America look westward for their expansion, hoping to conquer territory and sell off land to eager European settlers.

Its first target is the vast, resource-rich 'Northwest Territory', stretching from the Appalachian Mountains to the Mississippi River. But this is not vacant land - thousands of native people from numerous tribes call these valleys and forests home, and will fight to protect it.

As violence flares along the frontier and negotiations fail, President Washington and the US decide to take the territory by force... but they have fatally underestimated their enemy.

This is the full story of the 'Northwest Indian War' and the Battle of the Wabash... America's first military defeat.

We are pleased to share the all-parts compilation of our foray onto the Northwestern frontier! This video tells the story of two US campaigns known as Harmar's Defeat, and St.Clair's Defeat. They were the USA's first major military expeditions since independence, and became their first defeats. More men were lost at St.Clair's Defeat than at Custer's Last Stand. We hope you enjoy the video, and learn something new. And many thanks to all the artists who gave permission for their work to be included - check out their links in the video description to see more fantastic art from 'the old frontier'.

People dissing the new narrator but i love how they have a unique voice for the American military stories. It adds to the immersion. Well done, lads!

I love your usual narrator [Charles Nove] he is in a league of his own. This narrator is also very pleasant to listen to.

Audiowork on your channel overall is amazing.

For those complaining about the narrator, I believe it's been mentioned before that he was specifically chosen for an American accent because it's an American topic. Furthermore I think it's been mentioned that the narrator is from the area, which makes even more sense. I love it. I like them both. Also I'm from Fort Washington 😊

You're cold, sore, and looking forward to your morning breakfast, when--coming from the forests around you--the sound of 1, 200 warriors giving their war cry... The sheer terror and amount of adrenaline that would strike into your heart would almost be incapacitating.

Hiteto Newkini, I am enrolled member of the Eastern Shawnee Tribe. Thank you for remembering this over looked battle. I have friends among the Lakota have never heard of this and think the only people that caused any resistance to the expansion was them. They don't stop to think that for nearly 200 years we fought, then they started fighting around 1830 and by 1890 they were on reservations. The only tribe unconquered was in the east the Seminole Nation. So many have never heard of Bradocks defeat, the Battle of Piqua, Battle of Fallen Timbers or Pontiacs Rebellion where they captured 8 British forts.

I'm still wondering why there wasn't a third part to cover General Anthony Wayne, building up Wayne's legion which was the first fully professional army since the Revolution and Wayne's campaign into Ohio and the Battle of Fallen timbers? You kinda left out a very important part that would have rapped up the Northwest campaign.

I really enjoyed this new narrator - strong but smooth voicework! I consider Charles to be the narrator for Europe, whilst I enjoyed this gentleman as the narrator for America. Great job all round! 😀

Imagine what the US would look like today if we and the Indians had been able to talk our differences out and successfully make some kind of compromise where the US was able to settle the rest of the area that we did in real life but that the Indians were incorporated as equal citizens. Kind of like the reservations but much larger and somewhat different. Very unique alternate history.

I love the Usual narrator but part of me, really really loves watching and listening to american history in an accent so close to me that I recognize and appreciate. I petition that team that the narrator that did this series does any future video series in American history

Hello … newzealander here… this is awesome… im stunned … so after proclaiming American as the land of the free following the war of independence.. the us then went after the native tribes… its little wonder the tribes has fought on Britains side they could see what was coming…. Is it right to assume that Britain’s had not allowed colonial settlers to encroach into native Americans land and that was part of the reason for the revolutionary wars… also I’ve only just become aware that the French and Spanish also sided with the Americans so effectively Britain’s was fighting three countries… no wonder they lost… you hear about Lexington but not about native settlements being invaded by colonial militia…. Thats why this is a good series it’s starting to tell us what really happened good en you

Nice to see my favorite youtube channel do a series on my hometown. I grew up on the Mississinewa River in Marion, Indiana. Its right about where that fort was supposed to be built by St. Clair. Wasn't expecting this but what a treat.youve stumbled upon a new gold mine w native american history. You should also start a series on the history of middle eastern tribes.

Your Napoleon and world war 1 series are hands down the greatest of all military history series and channels on YouTube. They have held that title for a long time now. I am very happy to see new content like this done so very well. Not to mention on subject matter so rarely covered. Great job Epic History. I can only hope that more series will be coming in this new year.
