A very good summary of the topic actually.

Screw typical ASMR streams, I want a science podcast with fauna called "the natural order" or something.

As my Physics professor told me: "The universe makes perfect sense. You're just confused because you're used to everything being larger than a proton, smaller than the sun, and slower than one-tenth the speed of light."

As a scientist, hearing a popular internet personality say things like "our best models" and "it's just a popular theory because the math works out nice" and "you can never really prove something you just collect evidence to consider a theory probable" absolutely heals my soul. To hear science not necessarily described in detail, but at least depicted accurately in a way that simultaneously explains why the phrase "it's not a perfect science" is an oxymoron while also showing why you can and should trust the scientific method.

Quantum physics is of course, quantum - Ceres Fauna

As a particle physicist, this is a pretty good first explanation of string theory. It's very nice that she also talked about the problems with it

As a graduated physics guy, I declare this a common Fauna W.

As a teacher with a PhD in quantum mechanics once said to me: if you think you understand quantum mechanics, go back and read it again.

Fauna shows hints of a good educator. She starts with a presentation of the problem or the “gap” in knowledge, the proposed solution or theory, the general merits of the theory, the limitations of the peoposed theory, and finally the recommendations to push forward the theory. It’s deceivingly simplifed, but if this were a more formal educational setting, Fauna could legitimately handle the topic in an academic nature if she wanted to.

i don't know the vtuber scene, but holy shit this girl is playing getting over it VERY calmly while explaining string theory and quantum mechanics.

it is surreal, and this is why i fucking love the internet.

Normal streamers playing this game: AAARGH! OMGWTF!

I want an asmr where she just explains physics theories

4:34, I can try to explain this one (I’m also a noob tho). Basically, quantum mechanics/particle physics says that every type of force is facilitated by a corresponding particle. (Light has photons, electricity has electrons, etc.) And this works for every single force, except gravity. If you try to fit “gravitons” into the established model, tiny balls of gravity interacting with each other on such a small scale would create tiny black holes everywhere. And that isn’t happening, so…

String theory proposes that every particle is actually a vibrating string, and a graviton would be a string connected end-to-end in a loop. This effectively makes gravitons less dense, since it’s not a solid uniform shape anymore. And this apparently makes the math work out really well, and then you don’t get tiny black holes everywhere, which is cool. That’s how String Theory ties quantum mechanics and Einstein’s gravity together.

These subtitles are very helpful since I'm an intermediate English learner and esp these kinda topics are really hard to keep up with without subs. so thank you!

The fact that we’ll never get a stream where Fauna and Sana talk about space and physics makes me upset.

Fuana is explaining physics while playing the most rage game on the planet her brain is so big that the universe can't even measure her smartness

she's got the patience of a saint, if she repeatedly fucks up like that and her voice stays completely calm

I'm genuinely intrigued now, wtf is Fauna's academic background because she is actually great at explaining this and well spoken

As someone currently taking graduate quantum mechanics, I can say that Fauna’s explanation of QM is perfect. Quantum is indeed very small.

This has to be by far the chillest most relaxing explanation of physics I’ve ever heard ❤
