1:25 antillas *menores* — Luperon's mother came from one of those islands. They [Cocolos] arrived in Santo Domingo as early as the era of the Haitian occupation of the island in the early 19th century, not 1895 b/c as I said Gregorio Luperon's mother was Cocolo. Many Cocolos formed part of the military that expelled the Spanish in 1865.
