If gaijin made infantry a thing and made the infantry gameplay actually feel good unlike enlisted they would have a battlefield killer f2p game. Id add infantry into a separate game mode tho. They could tap into the squad milsim crowd with the vehicle features too

We've all heard this before
" tanks dont belong in warthunder "
" ships dont belong in warthunder "
And now
" Infantry doesnt belong in warthunder "

Considering what despite all...

Warthunder started as a PLANE game, and now we are with naval stuff and we almost reach the End of the line of stuff begin added to the tech trees welp infantry seems pausible

I wouldn't mind infantry staying as AI if it is implemented correctly. Actually it would be so much better because i have one problem with WT and it is the fact that maps are empty. And it could give IFVs more utility with spawn able squad. That is my take, love your vids.

If they add infantry to anything above WWII they will add in APCs. I couldn't see them running across maps unless they dismounted.

i really really hope we dont get enlisted movement and gunplay cause thats the absolute worst movement ive ever had in a game

In the video, the infantry were deployed by APCs. The infantry, if added, would act as an extension of current APCs.

I woke up early for the infantry and stared at the steam page for an update. I NEVER wake up early.

To be honest, if the infantry was AI based, like how you said it was in the Great War mode, then it could work, because as I've often found out when I was playing the Great War mode, I couldn't de-cap a point. I had to kill literally all the infantry that was occupying that position before I could cap. It was only after I machine gunned all of them, then I was able to cap the point. I think if it was introduced into War Thunder, that sort of a system would work brilliantly, because it would actively encourage, I would say, people to cap the point, and the infantry would move up and hold that position. Now when it comes to, say, modern infantry, well, they've got things like RPGs, loitering munitions, javelins, all sorts.

So it would have to be approached very carefully, instead of just barrelling into the cap at like full speed, and then some guy with a RPG leans out a window and shoots you. I think that would make players basically slow down and actually take it slowly when going into the cap, because the infantry could very easily kill you with the right equipment. World War II infantry, again, you've got bazookas, Panzerfausts, Panzerschrecks, and things like that. So, again, you'd have to approach the point very carefully, and basically look for anyone leaning out of a window, or basically poking the head around a corner of a building.

So you would have to take it slowly. So I think if infantry was introduced the same way as it is in the Great War event, then it could work. Plus, in my opinion, it would actually make the battlefield feel more alive and a lot more organic, which would be a lot better than some abandoned no-name town in the middle of godforsaken nowhere. So I'm all for this. Might need tinkering, obviously, but if Gaijin uses the infantry from the Great War event as a base, I think it could work. Not as playable infantry, I think that would be a bit annoying, but as just AI infantry that can hold a point.

The common excuse for ridiculously low BRs for some IFVs is "IFVs can't do what they were made for in WT because there's no infantry, so they are stuck fighting tanks"... if Gaijin does add infantry, would IFVs BRs be raised to match vehicles they were meant to fight next to?

"It would feel bad because of the natural imbalances between them." Yes, my friend, I also agree that planes don't belong in ground battles.

Just for the sake of argument. If you are going to say that ships don’t belong in the same battles as tanks in War Thunder because they are two different things then the same should be true for tanks and planes should it not?

Adding Ai infantry into standard battles i could see working. Maybe certain vehicles could be able to carry and command squads of infantry. Such as APCs and IFVs, drop off a squad near a cap, you order them to cap it, they do, you get the points. Then you could recall them to go elsewhere or have them stay put to maintain control. And if they're destroyed, you'd have to go to a friendly captured area to restock troops. Or perhaps a cargo or transport aircraft to deliver paratroopers. Fly over an area and designate a spot you want your troops to go after landing. Then you could loiter for more commands or return to base to get another wave of troops to drop.

I already know what we will get. I'm confident we will get infantry, but not map based AI only. Player spawned AI from vehicles. An expanded tech tree means APCs and soft skin. We absolutely will get NPC infantry spawned from player vehicles just like the UAV.

We may even get infantry control but the issues you pointed out would prevent that from bringing fun to players.

I could see Infantry being controlled through infantry support vehicles. Imagine Bradleys or BMPs being able to move with support squads to recon or scout or control objectives

in my experience, April fools events are always them trialing future game features; like how the pirate ships were testing for naval. the space events were testing for helicopters. This update I feel was a good trial for having infantry on objectives. Think about it. They made it so when you capture an objective, your friendly infantry move onto the point and then hold it. In order for the enemy to capture that point, they need to clear the infantry on it, otherwise they cant cap it. that's something we haven't seen before really, so its a new feature. How we get those infantry onto an objective could be modified though; in the WW1 event they run across no mans land. If this is what they were testing, maybe IFV's and troop transports would be able to do the same thing, and deploy infantry onto objectives; like the WW2 half tracs, Bradleys, BMP's etc.

I need to note too, that the infantry on those objectives DO have anti tank weapons in the form of grenades, and it doesn't seem overpowered at all, due to the fact that the infantry take ages to decide to actually use them, and wont use them beyond a certain distance. I like it as a mechanic, and it forces players to be more proactive when it comes to capturing objectives by not sitting back and actually trying to clear them out.

I think that the best option to add infantry is diffrent game mode with diffrent maps with more open interiors and more points ( D!!,
And E ) accessible only for infantry and helis (capture poins in buildings or rooftops ) that wont make infantry useless and will add THE D POINT!
