Good service video, but the pad measurements is wrong:
GTX 1060 6gb Gigabyte G1 Gaming (factory spec)
0.5mm VRAM
1.5mm Choke
1.5mm VRM
3mm Backplate

There is other variants but for this specific one the above is the correct ones, using the wrong ones can cause improper contact and or over tension on gpu silicon which can damage it.

I contacted “manufacturer” support and was told the thicknesses of the thermals.
For gigabyte g1 gaming 6g (Rev 2):
The thickness of thermal pads are 0.35 and 1.25mm.
56*21*1.25mm
64*10.5*1.25mm
31*14*0.35mm
66*14*0.35mm

I hope it helps someone.

Out of my 3 PC’s, one has a GTX 1060 3GB msi afterburner OC edition and I was wondering if it would be easy to tear down just to get to the die. I want to re paste it and wondering if we just add same past as we use for cpu, would I need to add new thermal pads? I’m wondering where I may get pads if they need replaced or replace since I’m in there.

Thanks for the helpful video! one question though - can i use the 1mm for the whole GPU if i want to replace them all to new ones? because in the video i see you use new ones that are blue and old ones that are white

Hello. Does anyone have
experience with gigabyte gtx1060 6gb winforce video card? I own this piece of shit and the cooler is undersized with only one cooling pipe, something you quickly notice when playing. The card gets relatively high in temperature and the fans start to run fast and then make quite a lot of noise.
temperature takes some time to drop again, which is a bit unusual since you are used to the cpu dropping relatively quickly in temperature after the Intel burn test.

People say that 80c is normal and that the card can withstand this. But still, 80c is a bit on the high side!

Fans can reach almost 3000rpm, which is unusually high for fans.

The fans also have a lot of complaints from people about a lot of rattling noises and other noises.

My old gigabyte gtx660 2g oc winforce had an incredibly good cooler with 4 cooling pipes.
Same with older ATI radeon which also had a better cooler.

Has gigabytes gotten worse?

Anyone with experience??
