I am a Japanese. It baffles me why those signs are written only in Japanese when there are only foreigners who needs their visas. And make people wait so long. Talk about bureaucracy!

Wow... the process is a bit faster here in Osaka, but like most of Japan, patience throughout the process is key. Thank you for the video.

I think that process is the norm in every country due to the pandemic . Hurry up & wait. Good to know John. Thank you

My dad used Nakai Immigration Service for him and me. Their office is in Daimon and it’s across from Minato ward office. They work fast and some of the staff speak pretty good English.

How come you queue in the weather. It is an antiquated system in a Modern country like Japan. We submitted online and get an appointed date and time in Singapore.

hisamitsu
is a pain relief brand of products like plasters & sprays (like those used in soccer games where they spray in injuries and sprains) by Hisamitsu Pharmaceutica (Tokyo) that is used globally. In tokyo, they have the plasters from 20-140 sheets priced from 130 odd to approx 1, 000 Yen at almost all drug stores, combini stores, 7-11s etc.
Please get some.
Long term or all day/night bandage is also no good for knee. Get knee support if you walking or cycling....take off at home or sleeping....use the salonpas for pain relief. Get well soon.

Have been here many times to renew my visa when I was in Japan. Very organized but waiting time on crowded days were long. Yes many things were written in Japanese but that helped me to learn language and clear JLPT N1 exam.

I renewed my Spouse Visa in Yokohama as I live in Kanagawa. They don't have this crazy wait there like Tokyo. We walk in like normal, took 10-15 minutes to be seen. I got my card in about 2-weeks. It wasn't hard at all and quicker outside Tokyo.

I'm surprised you don't know what Salonpas is. That thing is internationally used and originated in Japan. I'm sure Kanae knows what it is. It's a menthol patch you can buy at any drug store (or wherever they sell commercial medical stuff) that you apply to your body (it has a pretty strong smell to it cuz of the menthol). Love the stuff when you're aching. You should absolutely give it a try. My last trip, I saw someone buying this one called Roihi Tsuboko, which are much smaller patches. I think I like those better than Salonpas, but it is more effort when you're in pain due to the smaller size and how many you may want to apply lol.

Ah seems like depressing government buildings are everywhere in the world. This reminded me of going to the DMV in America. I know the workers are trying their best, but everything takes so long and there could more efficient procedures put in place to make everyone get in and out quicker.

I’m glad people are social distancing in those lines, but my goodness they’re quite long. I also think it’s silly that people are upset that the workers can’t speak their language. Like you’re in Japan. If you’re immigrating to a place that has a language you don’t understand, how on earth do you expect to get by there? In America, there are Spanish options on a lot of things like registration forms or phone calls for doctors, but even then we speak English. I get learning a new language is hard, but plenty of people do it. It’s not the workers’ responsibility to be flexible to your language. I feel like that’s such an entitled attitude. I do want to travel to Japan and other places, but I’m not going to expect them to cater to me. That’s on me to learn at least the basics of the language you know? There’s so much information online and resources to learn from nowadays.

They may expect long stay guest to be able to speak their language. To assimilate.

I’m Japanese but my husband is Sri Lankan 🇱🇰 he was only getting one year visa until now
We been married for almost six years but yeah and Immagration is now so strict too.
One guy that works there told me it’s all about money too. I’m trying to get my husband
PR visa permanent residence. Wait why you go there every year? My husband now has three year visa and yeah that’s our goal and also we are planning on starting business.
So when I got married I had to get married twice, one in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 agency in Tokyo. And where I’m from in yamaguchi. I’m so far from Tokyo 😂 but was a good trip 😊

I find it interesting as to how people /countries define afternoon. Where I come from the morning is before 12 noon and afternoon is after 12 noon. The evening starts between 5 & 6pm. In Spain, where I know live afternoon starts around 2-3pm which is their lunchtime and evening starts when it gets dark so the afternoon goes on till 9pm over Summer. In the video, you were referring to 11am as the afternoon:)

Wow you've got a real bad time to renew your visa, I just renewed mine last month (11 gatsu 2021) and it's good. No waiting in line.
BTW the way, if you're wondering on the 7th floor, it is a holding cell to foreigners without visa who surrendered or got detained.
No bad bad experience in NYUKAN, when they gave me my visa I was surprised that I thought that they are going to arrest me.

Watching this makes me glad I moved to Osaka and I got a 5 year visa in 2018 so I don't have to go back to immigration until 2023
