The thing I love most about this scene is that it shows that Souhei knew the whole time, yet he still chose to stay around Yuki and be there for her, he's one of the good ones. 😊

Seeing how she's the narrator, my headcanon is that she found love and acceptance in him. Kids have reasons not to tell anybody else secrets, like how it's cool that only they know them, but he seems like a very receptive guy.

I wish there was a sequel to this! Yuki was very much like her father being vulnerable enough to show her boyfriend her true form, and he still accepted her as she is…just like mama did with her father. I hope they ended up together forever and had more wolf children 💕

I love how some of the notes for Maternity Sky play during this scene.

Maternity Sky is her parent’s theme, so to hear notes of it playing when she and Souhei finally open up to eachother lowkey hints that the two’s relationship has changed from platonic to romantic, just as her parents did during that fateful night when her father revealed his secret to her mother.

0:02 Souhei smiling reminded me of Hana smiling through the good and difficult times. And maybe Yuki remembered back when she was young, Hana was getting worried and stressed with the crops not growing and getting diseased. Yuki was scared and when she asked her mom what will happen to them, Hana shook it off and smiled. I think that’s how she felt she could tell Souhei her secret.

Yuki, despite wanting to be more human is more wolf than her brother because she values bonds i.e. the pack. Instead of bullying others with her superior strength she holds back and lets the pack i.e. her classmates and friends have fun. Ironically just like how a wolf can blend in the forest unseen.
Ame, despite wanting to be wolf is more human than her sister because he stays in the mountains to be a caretaker for others. Also, he regularly howls home like a mama's boy.
