Well I'm a girl and there was absolutely nothing to symthaize about this bishh. The movie was frustrating and I was more angry at vic for putting up with her.

I kept waiting for 'something' to happen. Boring and Ben-again-played a wooden character, while Melinda's only 'real charms' was her sexuality. Talk about being 'whipped!' He was a punchline in the neighborhood and Wow! What parties that neighborhood has! If everyone gets drunk and does stupid things every weekend-I want to live in suburbia too! Although the child was portrayed as a 'cute and sassy child' she was really just an ignored daughter who deeply despised the mother that ignores and openly resents her. I saw nothing really 'tense' or 'good.'

Interesting movie. I think some parts are well done and then some parts are just clumsy especially the ending. The way she goes from one guy affair after the previous one dies is very odd. I did not get her motivation. One scene she accuses her husband of being a killer then 20 mins later she’s all lovey dovey. The ending bike chasing car sequence was just plain laughable.

This was a complete disappointment. I heard a lot of buzz about this movie and was so excited to watch it. I'm glad I didn't look at the reviews before, because I would have gone into it let-down. But there was so much wrong with this movie from a directorial-perspective. There was absolutely no suspense or mystery around Ben Afleck's character. They jingle around whether or not he was responsible for the missing guy's death. Then they show him killing the second guy (and it was completely obvious as he was the last guy in the pool with him), which kills any suspense as to whether he's involved in the first death. It doesn't make sense from a plot how he is seemingly ok with what his wife is doing and then he flips out. Just a bad movie with no suspense or "thriller" elements.

This movies was a letdown, even part of the teaser trailer was cut off from the film lmfao. The film was a joke and waste of time, this was a simple paycheck for all actors involved.

If it had focused on an open relationship with boundaries. But a couple of men overstepped the boundaries and Vic had to scold them and they still didn't listen, so he takes them out it would have been a far better movie.

5:30 you describe it yourself right here. Coming from a toxic relationship myself through four years heavily based on control, surveillance 24/7 with gps and car tracking and deciding who I saw and spoke to and friends to cut, I can assure you that all these non rational thought occur, and it’s tempting. You’re tempted. And that’s just normal, don’t you worry. People can cross your line every day in life, but never cross it yourself. That’s where it gets dark. Peace.

After seeing the movie, I felt like I'd just wasted two precious hours of my life... Very boring, lack of suspense, too predictable, weak/lazy storyline, very unrealistic...
Even when concrete evidence is unavailable, the Nigerian police would never let a murder suspect off the hook so easily, let alone the FBI... No surveillance howsoever...
This is definitely the worst movie I've seen in years.

Ana's character was terrible, yet I found her so magnetic and even charismatic especially when they're at parties.
I have a book vs movie comparison and yeah the endings are so different. I had a hard time deciding which ending I preferred.
I liked the movie more than i thought and was engaged the whole time.
Great review though! It's interesting hearing the different thoughts people have on this movie.

I knew I was going to be in the minority of people that liked this movie. Romantic thrillers BARELY do well critically. I really enjoyed Ben Affleck in this movie, something about the way he looks in so many scenes really makes you anxious about what he's going to do to certain people. I think he does a good job selling the quiet, psychotic husband with a lot of anger in it. I think Ana de Armes is SERVICEABLE most of the movie. Her acting can sound kinda wooden at times but I think she does good in some of the emotionally distraught scenes. I think the movie kept me pulled in by really playing up the toxicness of the marriage making me intrigued about how things will end between them. yeah there's a lot of scenes that can feel repetitive and boring but I think it helped me get a sense of the husband's POV on his relationship with his wife and daughter. This movie is basically Gone girl in reverse with a little bit of Dexter mixed in. I don't justify Ben Affleck's actions in this movie, but I fully understand them. There's a certain shot in this movie I really liked where the husband and wife are being split apart by the kitchen wall. I think this movie will definitely be critically panned for it's frustrating story choices but I still enjoyed it. I'd give it a 7.9/10 or a B -.

The movie could have been great IF it was more realistic! So many things happening that are very unnatural reactions. So much did not make any sense that I felt it was stupid. For example the police didn't look any further into anything especially after the accusations??? Come on! And even in an open relationship, you should not have one of your lovers at a party that your spouse is at with all his friends! Many more examples but I don't want to say to much for those who have not watched it yet!
