Like someone else commented, sometimes a marriage has been over for a long time privately but we only see the public divorce side of it. Sometimes a marriage can encounter a physical death but sometimes it can encounter a spiritual death.

And Corey is the bad guy, for trying to honor the vows they made before God, their families and each other 14 YEARS AGO. All to be shredded to pieces by her “happiness”.
