Looking for a Milorganite alternative? Milorganite has been a great lawn fertilizer for many people but between shortages or lawns which don't really need any more phosphorus, I've been looking for another organic lawn fertilizer to use as a replacement. Today we go over Purely Organic Lawn Food and complete an application on a portion of my lawn.

I have used a drop spreader for the past 11 years. I love it! I tend to use less fert, and know exactly how much and where the fert falls. The broadcast spreaders are far faster, but I feel like I can't control it nearly as easy as with the drop spreader.

I prefer this stuff over milorganite, a bit more expensive in my area but my lawn has never looked so thick and green. Purely organic and urban farm liquid lawn is an unbelievable combination.

I just started using Purely Organic Lawn Food this season & I like it. BTW, the setting for that Scotts Mini is 7.5, not 11.

I actually started using this exact product this year. Seemed very similar to Ringer to me, hope it works just as well!

Here in PA milo hasn’t been in stock since April so I had to go with a different brand. Used this same product and was impressed.

I like that there are more Milorganite clones/alternatives with the shortages of Milo in some areas.

I started using is last year. Quality product I would recommend. The pricing of Ringer is ridiculous. This is a very good alternative for the money.

Ryan, thanks for the recommendation of the Kujo Yardwear….I received mine last week and love them! So much more comfortable than the work boots I've always worn. Great videos, and good luck the remainder of the spring season, your yard is looking fantastic!

Looks like we have the same spreader, setting is labeled at 7.5 not 11.5

Started using the product last year with milorganite and had great results.

You might add slopes into your consideration, if you have a significant rainfall before the fertilizer is fully absorbed into the soil, it will wash down hill. So, I put it on heavier at the top and less at the bottom and spread it across the slope rather than up and down.

I live just outside of farm country and all of the little communities have to dispose of their sludge from their sewerage plants, in this area most of it is spread over farms that aren't growing food products intended for human consumption, since most are growing feed corn, hay, or soybeans that doesn't apply to them. This is a win/win since the sewer authority doesn't have to dry their sludge (so they could burn it) and the farmer gets free fertilizer and they even apply it for him. It does smell though. Back in the day when George Washington was President (NYC was the Capital) the city employed an army of men to clean up after the thousands of horses in the city, there was a fleet of small ships (sail of course) that carried the manuer to farm communities along the shore. farmers would apply about ten wagonloads of maneur per acre each year. Big cities like NY and Philadelphia used to dump their sludge at sea, about 100 miles offshore, this is now against US law and international law.

I'm a big fan of Milorganite.
I changed to this product at the beginning of the season since Milo went up $2.00 a bag at HD.
I'm very happy so product.

Last year I tried Milorganite, left four (4) bags in my vehicle in the blazing heat for several days and my ride smelled awful for weeks. This year, I am going with a synthetic fertilizer based upon info from my soil test and correcting the PH. Also introducing some NEXT products and other forms of trace minerals and amino acid.. So far, the grass looks better than any yard I have ever had and dominates most of the town (lol).

I'm experimenting with the Menards Ideal Eq Product. So far I'm getting great results. Plus look out for the 11% rebate and it saves even more....around $8.50 a bag.

2:29 I ran a knife along the top of the box and made a small slit in the bag 🙁. Had to patch with duct tape. Didn't know it was that close to the top.
