I've found the feature to be SO annoying! I was looking all over the preferences menus trying to turn it off.

You've saved me loads of frustration. Thanks!

Thank you for such a simple how-to on disabling that annoying feature. It causes so many headaches when trying to edit with in/out points instead of add-edits. I really thought I was going nuts. Every edit required me to click OUT of the selected clip before performing the edit. Geesh!

This is a fantastic option to have enabled. I am editing on a different computer than I'm used to and this option wasn't enabled so I searched for it here and that's how I found your video. Thank you for making this and sharing it. You just saved me a lot of frustration. I looked everywhere in Edit > Preferences and couldn't find it.

Thank you! I forgot how to turn this on/off and I've been searching to switch this off. I find this tool useful for colour grading, but generally for cutting and moving clips around I find it really annoying.

Thank you very much for this video. Pros and cons of the auto clip selector helps alot!
I'm used to the option being off but i can see how it can be helpful in some situations.
Adding toggle to turn the option on and off is ideal for me.

To add to your information if you have multiple clips layered over each other, it will auto select the top most clip.

Thank you sir! I work with a bunch of small clips and this is visually annoying! It distracts me because I continually scrub back and forth after cutting and moving a bunch of small segments and this just annoys me to death because it just started with the newest Premiere Pro update ... thanks again! Glad to see it can be easily togged on and off.
