Today we have a 3-part video comparing nine different wood bats that we've identified over the years as some of the best wood bats in baseball!

Part 1 (2:09): On-field performance testing at Dell Diamond in which 4 of the 9 bats will be eliminated.
Part 2 (18:05): Durability testing off of an 85 mph pitching machine. Any bats that break will be eliminated.
Part 3 (25:20): Exit velocity testing on the Hittrax with any remaining bats that survive the first 2 rounds.

@baseballbatbros In case you guys were wondering, that discoloration on the barrel of that Dove Tail bat is called the heartwood. The lighter-colored wood that makes up most of the bat (and most bats in general) is called the sapwood. The heartwood is located closer to the center of the tree’s trunk and the sapwood on the outer section of the trunk.

Though the sapwood is generally more desirable for wood bats because it tends to be a more consistent weight and hardness, bats that contain small sections of heartwood on the barrel are not actually considered to be lower-quality. They just have a bit of a different look. Hope this helps 👍🏻

Love the bats and the work you put into letting us know what is worth spending money on. I have to mention that field at the beginning is AMAZING! I mean that is a nice Field! I would live at that field if they had apartments underneath! I like the sound of a good metal bat, but nothing can beat that KRACK of the wood on a good hit on a good wood is like listening to good music you like.
