The Polygon XQUARONE has come from nowhere, and it’s blown our minds. As we’ve said above, the way this bike works is incredibly hard to describe, both technically and experientially, so we’d 100% encourage you to try and get a ride on one to see what we’re on about.

People are complaining about the price... but its top spec kit, this model has xx1 eagle, carbon wheels, fox 36 fork and x2 custom rear shock, guide ultimate brakes... its TOP PRICE GEAR! Its the most expensive best of the best components, if you add up price of all the parts they almost add up to the price of the full bike and thats with an amazingly well engineered frame, not to mention they have a lower spec version with x01 eagle, alloy wheels, rsc brakes and the same suspension for almost $2000 less..., and considering how good it functions i think its price if more than fair, especially when you compare it to the price of santa cruz and yeti bikes... the only reason people have to hate on this bike is that its brand is "Polygon" and that it looks ugly... i personally will take function over form any day of the week than buy a fancy branded bike like santacruz, yeti or any other boutique brand.

I really love this bike in how it's about to force all the manufacturers to get innovative again. Not in wheel size, or hub width or any of that, but in genuine creative suspension designs. The square one is proof that there are better design solutions still out there that haven't been discovered. I can't wait to give this bike a go and see what all the fuss is about!

I just bought this bike in the EX8 model, still an amazing spec. Im selling my 2016 cannondale Jeykll 1 with full XX1 and my Polygon collosus n6 just to get this bike. This is how much this review convinced me, it better be good :)

This suspension design + gearbox + linkage fork...
Is that the future?

i have so many sketches of a suspension design where the chainstay pivot is far into the down tube but have never figured out how to keep breaking forces isolated and the antisquat is still bearable.
i need to have a look at this

Love Flow Mountain Bike reviews and videos, would love them even more if you told us where you were testing the bikes, the trails always look superb. Keep flowing.

Like to see a comparison video between this and the Pivot Firebird.
They seem to fit in the same category. Plus I love mine.

Now I'm really interested in the linkage design. And I mean like hard numbers and data graphs, not this "Climbs like a beast bro" shit. Every review pretty much says the same things. I could see that the linkage wasn't squatting but all the reviews always say the same stuff.

Would love to see a comparison with the Marin Wolf Ridge

Well, reminds me to the Lapierre Spicy before they get rid of that top tube. The suspension (and the kinematics of it) pretty much reminds me to Whyte-Marin design (before they get rid of their suspension design), and Yeti's more recent SB6 series.

And yeah, it has the same suspension designer as Marin. Not that it'd be the same tbh, as Polygon has tuned the Float X2 to fit better into their suspension, while Marin sticks with OEM without any bespoke specification. And that kinda pays off tbh, with the Polygon in general having a far better ride quality than Marin, despite it being heavier and being a somehow purebred Superenduro rig, what with its 180mm of travel.

I wonder if the suspension praise that gearbox bikes get would translate over to this one if a gearbox version were created

I have a polygon square one ex9 and find that I can never bottom out the rear shock. It seems to stop exactly where the written words KASHIMA COAT are on the fox float x2. I took the shock off the bike and released all the air and compressed it with all my might. It seems to have a bump stop about 1.5cm from the top of it's travel. This confused me. Why have more stanchion length if it doesn't use it. I'm still looking for answers, contacting polygon and fox to see if this is normal or not. I'd just like to ask if you've experienced the same thing. Judging by your video it so to seems that the polygon in the video stops before the end of the travel. This also raises the question of how do i set the sag? By the full stroke length or by where the shock bottoms out? Please let me know if you have any answers.
Thanks
