Bolus Feeding Calculations

This video provides you with a step-by-step process for calculating tube feedings for an adult using the bolus method.

You will see how I teach interns to estimated nutrient needs, select a tube feeding formula, calculate the bolus volume, and select free water flushes for before and after each bolus.

There is even a case study!

Remember, tube feeding is also called enteral nutrition.

Bolus feeding is very similar to the intermittent feeding method.

The major difference is that bolus feeding is administered over a very short period (i.e. 2 minutes) whereas intermittent feeding is administered over a longer period (i.e. 1 hour).

Thank you for creating this video. It is clearly explained. I'm gonna share it with my colleagues as our guide. I have some clarifications regarding continuous feeding because we calculated within 20hrs (4hrs rest at night), not by 24hrs . Is it correct or wrong? thank you
