1.5 liter Toyota 1NZ-FE engine was used for 20 years and established a reputation for easily lasting 400k+ miles with just basic maintenance. None of these mechanics mentioned it because they've probably never had to work on one.

2GR-FE Engine! 3.5 L V6 Had 2007 Avalon, GREAT MPG's 30 highway and 268HP! I drove it overheated 2 hours and it survived! I fixed the radiator afterwards. I was so dumb. It's still being driving by my mom today.

1ZZ-FE. Mine lasted 750, 000 km body rusted out.. Sent it to the scrap yard still running.

1MZ is the unsung hero. Made entirely decent power, on decent fuel economy, with very low running costs. Yes, timing belt, but non interference, and in federal emissions spec, the cat and o2s are downright affordable. The 2GR might have a chain and more recent numbers of the high mileage club, but those Denso o2s and 3 cats make 300k a hyper expensive proposition. And the sludge was overblown, no more common than head gaskets on GRs, while entirely avoidable with even remotely decent oil change intervals and a $5, 2 minute PCV replacement ever few years. Excepting the 1ZZ and 2AZ, most Toyota engines have been absolutely stellar.

3UZFE-F. I sold two LS430's, one with 136k and the other with 244k. Both are still on the road with the buyers, and the one with higher mileage was the better running one to me. Seen them hit 600k with nothing but oil changes and timing kits.

In our family we have the 3.0 Diesel D4-D and it has zero issues, you cannot even think of anyone. Greetings from germany.

What about the 1NZFE ? I know it's not a racing legend, but as far as reliability goes, it might be the best.

1fz fe (inline 6 cylinders 4.5)
3rz fe (4 cylinders 2.7)
are the most beloved engines in the middle east, they are a bullet proof engines
i have 3rz-fe and it has now more than 400, 000 miles "660, 00 km" and i drive it daily
it is the original engine, and it is not rebuilt before and never been touched

There are so many good one's hard for them to choose. 1GR-FE in my FJ Cruiser. 12 years old and runs beautiful.

The 2.7l 4 cylinder the 4 L V6 and the 4.7 L V8 also the 5.7 L V8 is also pretty good
