Either practice your skills or lose them. Practice makes perfect. Great job, Captain Steve.

My dad flew for TWA for 30 years: Constellations, 727s, and then L-1011s. He was proud when he really greased a smooth landing. Occasionally he'd come home and say the passengers clapped for his landing, he loved that! Sometimes, I cringe at how hard a landing is and really appreciate those smooth ones. Would love to fly with you, Captain Steve!

An autoland is required for a CAT III approach, but you can autoland on any authorized ILS approach . . . and often do, for aircraft recertification.

Im a flight simmer and I often handfly up to FL100 or above even. On the approach I often turn off the autopilot very early too, because handflying is so fun.

When i was flying the Embraer 190/195, at at a CATIIIapproch, we made the approach with HUGS, down to decision height, 50 feet and in case of a go-around you fly manually up to gear, flaps up..always a good training for keep your skills

I really appreciate your letting us know what's going on in the flight-deck. I've been fascinated with aircraft all my life...

I enjoy take off and landing as the best part of a flight. My favourite was a same day return flight on a small craft with pontoons, taking off and landing on water at harbour in Vancouver B.C.

The sweetest part of these videos is when he says his name at the end

I get a smooth landing as a passenger maybe every 10 or so landings. Most pilots dump it on roughly. Except for that wonderful carrier approach by a Southwest pilot into Buffalo NY which was buttery smooth. Obviously manual as we never stopped banking left until right before he level and greased it on.

Dear Sir,
This is very technical information but I like your efforts to make it easy and interesting to normal people, this is very necessary to attract younger generation.

Hey Captain Steeeeve! How ya doin’ baby? Excuse the familiarity. You, the man. The face I’ll see whenever I travel. Thanks for calming my flying anxieties.

As long as you cross the threshold at 50 ft above the touchdown zone and land in the touchdown zone, on the centerline, and don’t print out a Load 15 report, that’s all that matters. Don’t get a call from Gatekeeper! :)
