The Problem With Indian Educational YouTubers

In this video, I delve into the world of India's infotainment YouTubers and discuss why we should be more critical of the content we consume. First, I argue why we need to cut back on watching certain educational channels and then explain why being selective about the creators we follow is essential. Using specific examples from popular creators like Mohak Mangal, Dhruv Rathee, and Abhi & Niyu, I point out how oversimplification, lack of expertise, and intellectual arrogance are impacting the quality of content we are exposed to.

I'm not saying all infotainment is bad, but when creators cover a wide range of complex topics with little depth or expertise, it leads to cookie-cutter content. There’s a fine line between amplifying important issues and oversimplifying them, and it’s time we as viewers acknowledge that. This is not about bashing individual creators, but about sparking a conversation on how viewers can push for better, well-researched, and nuanced content on the platform.

=============================

Hi, I'm Suresh, and this channel aims to promote awareness and inspire critical thinking about ethical living, sustainability, and social issues in India while encouraging viewers to reflect on their values and lifestyle choices. Here’s what you’ll find:

* Animal Rights
* Environmental Sustainability
* Ethical Consumerism
* Nutrition & Public Health
* Media Critique
* Social/Cultural Commentary

I avoid covering topics like politics, current events, or random explainer videos on science, religion, history, and more—unless they directly tie into the issues that matter most to creating a mindful, ethical lifestyle. Essentially, I want to build conscious, compassionate individuals who think critically about contemporary issues.

We are just bored and have nothing better to do. But we also want to feel superior to those who watch memes and reels all the time. So, we waste time watching "educational" or "social awareness" content about random things we don't actually care about or can't do anything about. Arguing about who's the best politician feels superior to arguing about who's the best actor. Glorified internet addiction.

Damm I was also wondering because their is always a certain youtuber or guy who will expose them like saying Dhruv Rathee is Anti BJP and Gaurav Thakur is pro BJP etc. Finally a youtuber with neutral point of view and we should do our own research

The problem of "cult following" is another problem in India. you see it everywhere, bollywood, politics and now YouTubers. dhruv bhai ne bol diya matlab bil diya he is damn correct.
we also need to make sure that if a creator mentions a source that doesn't mean the information is reliable, many articles today are weakly written and presented.

Actually people trust these youtubers blindly, this is why they don't ask for sources...

agreed, I prefer youtubers who have expertise or a niche in their field. Current ones are just chasing trending topics.

You are right...I saw a video of Abhi & Niyu "How Taiwan controls the world" that video is full of misinformation...they didn't researched on a basic level about chips, processors and fabrication process...

I also feel the same. You are right bro. Less about education, it is more about views and subscribers and ultimately money and the desire to be financially independent without doing much and setup the whole structure on automation so that the main person can remain out of all this and "enjoy" life by spending time in Mongolia and this country and that country. It is all coming from the human tendency to work less and have more in terms of material possesions, money and what not.

I get ur point but i also feel like Indian audience dont have even basic ideas about basic stuff like not eating too much starch in ur food. Which is prevalent in india and cause of high diabetic population more than anywhere.
And I feel like they do need to tone down on simplifying and genralising the topic but then again the audience they are making video for do need simplification. But yeah as u say bringing expert to interview on the channel will be more helpful. Because they are the expert at simplifying those topics in a good manner.
