Scientists in Uganda have partnered with the United States to test a new HIV vaccine. Authorities in Uganda say that the study of the vaccine named "RapidVax" has already started and is in its first stage. They also say they are hopeful that the vaccine candidate will go into phase 2. The vaccine uses the mRNA technology that came out during the COVID-19 vaccine development. It's been 40 years since HIV was identified as the cause of AIDS and it has been 36 years since the first HIV vaccine trial, but the world still does not have a working HIV vaccine. About 39 million people worldwide are living with HIV. Our next report gets you the details on Uganda and America's joint research.
