Metaphysical Healing By Joel S. Goldsmith

Metaphysical Healing is a short work by the healer, mystic, and educator Joel S. Goldsmith. It explores the true nature of self as an infinite spiritual consciousness that brings forth health, peace, and joy.

Goldsmith was born in 1892 in New York City. His experiences as a Marine in World War I, and the great suffering and pain he observed on his business travels led him to ask fundamental questions about humanity and God. He began a course of inquiry, searching for universal truth. As a spiritual scholar, he studied writings from ancient Greek, Sanskrit, and Aramaic cultures.

On a return trip from Europe in the 1920s, Goldsmith developed pneumonia. A Christian Science practitioner who was on board ship with him was able to heal him of this illness. He soon found, after his recovery, that he too had a healing gift. Strangers began to approach him, requesting relief and prayers. While Goldsmith had no religious training, he is said to have healed many of these people.

Still looking for answers to his spiritual questions, he joined the Christian Science Church, where he remained for 16 years. In 1945, he left the church, as he felt that organized religion was a hindrance rather than a help to spiritual growth. After leaving the church, he began to write, espousing his own philosophy on the nature of humanity and God. His pamphlet, Metaphysical Healing, was one of his earlier works.

This short guidebook explains that truth is to be found within, not without. Rather than turning to an external God, Goldsmith proclaims that, "The truth is that God is the Mind and Life of the individual. God is the only 'I'. When we understand this, we can transcend the limitations that we have placed on our minds and spirits.

He is amazing, he is what I call serious spirituality, if you really want to wake up. People didn’t show up at his house they were calling him to pray for them, he was always honest w/God he said Father the only prayer I know is now I lay me down to sleep and then he would listen for an answer

After that he started to receive calls people asking him to pray for them and then he decided to get an office and quit his job in fabrics by the nudge of his coworker

I’m so glad your reading his book maybe you can read practicing the presence, living the infinite way and then the art of meditation which he recommends after the infinite way

I have listen to Joel for a couple years now. He is as solid as it gets. I really appreciate you reading some of his works. I agree it is laughable to all these that taught I'm a healer send money. We are all healers from that place of wholeness. Not to material or mentally but Spiritual Realization and awareness. That said some of us have developed that awareness more then others. As such we see them who need healing as whole and complete in the Truth. And as joel said we don't make a sick person well. We present them blameless and spotless. As he said there is no resistance. Let us all make that contact within that we may subjectively see the wholeness of our fellow man.

I am certain those teachers began with Mary Baker Eddy. The path you opened for me led me to Matthew David Hurtado (a current voice) who led me back to Joseph Goldsmith and Herb Fitch. Now today I see that you are learning from Goldsmith! I just this morning told my wife how incredulous I am to have this Truth of being come to me from so many channels! I am listening!
