I used @redboatfishsauce’s Vietnamese chicken wings recipe from their cookbook

My buttery sauce was not a success so I improvised to using the @hoxynation ramen seasoning powder that I picked up at the summer fancy food show

Also, if you’re wondering, I switched to blender after realizing the mortar and pestle wasn’t going to cut it 😅

That's why I never raised my hand. Teachers would always beat you down when you answered wrong. 🙋‍♂️🤦‍♂️

The classic school method of making you ashamed for having the audacity to participate

Lisa having the confidence to share this is both cool and scary

Teachers should never laugh at a student for answering wrong. That’s just messed up.

I wonder what that conversation with dad was like after school🤣

That’s an awful teacher for laughing at a student! Thanks for sharing your story. I have plenty of stories where I was super embarrassed and won’t ever forget

This teacher sounds like one of those teachers who had no business being a teacher.
Children are still learning, and it's cruel to embarrass them when they're making an honest effort.

How dare they laugh at you? You were trying. That's all that mattered. I did Home Ed, too, during high school. I took SO much into consideration, from basic sewing to cooking lessons. Best class I ever took.

Why is it so common for teachers to humiliate students for trying? I have plenty of stories of this happening to me

When you drop a tiny bit of batter or whatever into the oil and it boils and pops to the top right away 😉. God bless 🙏

When you stick a wooden chopstick in the oil and it starts to bubble! I'm sure that would've gotten laughs back then...

Teachers: mocks students when they get answers wrong.

Also teachers: omg why are NONE of these kids engaged with my class! 😠

I have a somewhat similar story. I've always had a fascination with weapons and war and stuff from an early age like a lot of boys. This led to me knowing a little bit about how guns work and the history. So, when I was in 4th grade and my history teacher was telling us about how Cortez took on thousands of natives with just 500 men in the 16 century, it didn't sit well with me (she made it seem like this was purely 500 Vs Natives combat, nothing more). I asked how it could be so easy for Cortez to defeat the natives being so outnumbered, and every other student and the teacher looked at my dumbfounded and said, "They had guns". As if 500 Men with early muskets could so easily destroy thousands with more primitive weapons. I now know the more intricate nature of the events, but I have never compromised the fact that in that scenario, I was right.

It probably depends though right? Different oils have different smoke points, and therefore it might not line up with intended cooking temp EXACTLY. Like peanut oil is good because it has a rlly high smoke point (450F) — if it’s smoking, this is way hotter than you want to fry at, which is under 400ish (after adding room temp food).

Tbh I think it would be a cool experiment to see you try this with different oils and see how much adding the cold food drops the oil temp by

Teachers were always either the best or the worst, no inbetween.

seeing WISPS of smoke when youre doing pan frying not deep frying is an indicator ive seen from recipes, she and the other students may have also thought you meant Fully Smoking not lightly smoking
still rude and messed up

That teacher was so unprofessional. I’m so sorry you dealt with that.
