So that’s why the lows are so low. So you can channel that valley, that dearth of energy, that low dopamine, into a creative point that will bring you back up, and possibly someone else that cannot do the same.

This is so interesting! When we channel our negative energy into creativity psychologists use a term called "sublimation", maybe this mania is associated with a failure to sublimate, or in simpler terms the failure to convert negative energy into positive energy, and so it just sits in our psyche instead of being transformed. Maybe once enough of that builds up in us it causes symptoms similar to mania...
