Sacred Oaths require action AT THE TIME.

He waited till his book was out before he brought trump’s action to the public. Like Bolton, Barr, and the rest, he kept this to himself rather then tell the American people. I don’t think he is a hero. Lt. Col. Vidman is a hero.

10 years ago I would have never thought that we would be having these kinds of conversations here in America. Now I realize our country is even nuttier than I thought.

I love what James Earl Jones said in clear and present danger. "You took an oath, if you remember. And I'm not talking about the director of the C.I.A., I'm talking about his boss and I'm not talking about the president of the United States, I'm talking about his boss. I'm talking about the people of the United States.

Esper was loyal to Trump, not the Constitution when it MATTERED! Stop giving him a platform to rewrite his role. He's a coward.

I am so upset and sad that all these people saved all this information on the 45th president for book sales! It sure would have been nice to know this information before now. It's disgusting.

Even as a non-American, I know very well that at key moments in his tenure he did not raise his voice publicly and continued to support his boss. Sadly we seem to need such unsympathetic insiders to get important information from behind the scenes. Hopefully he makes at least a few GOP voters doubt their party. My consolation: He can write as many memoirs as he wants, history will not remember him as a hero.

He is using the court of public opinion to cement himself as some sort of hero.
When he put the country in severe danger and now wants to make money from you.
Once a Republican always a Republican.

Funny how these clowns only find the courage to speak up when they got a book to sell. 🤔🙄

Nope. Can't do it. Turned off the TV as soon as I saw him. Didn't watch this clip. Tired of people who witnessed wildly dangerous things happening and said absolutely nothing while hoping to accumulate enough material for a book. Can we all agree to stop enriching these grifters?

Esper's just doing what all heroes do; he waits until after the building burns down before sounding the alarm, and coming to the rescue.

If he was really loyal to the constitution he would have pushed use of the 25th amendment when the potus wanted to do all this horrible shit. Or at VERY LEAST reported it so people would have known beforehand. He's just grifting.

Apatow hit it on the head later on in the show. If guys like Mark Esper were really looking out for the little guy, they wouldn't have waited a year to blow the whistle when their book came out.

He's just selling a book. He's as dirty as they all are.

This guy was one of the people in charge during the George Floyd protests and the lafayette square crackdown in DC. This was Mr. "You gotta dominate the battlespace" when talking about dealing with fellow americans. Now he's getting painted as a hero and applauded by the crowd? For shame Stephen, for shame.

Edit: typo

What a twitchy character. He acts like a kid who was in the middle of things now snitching to make himself look better, trying to distance himself from his own culpability.

Reading the book right now… Very interesting, and a great look into the budgetary decision-making process within the DoD. This man is a West Point graduate and a veteran of the 101st Airborne like me, so he’s got my respect. And he stood up to Trump in order to protect our Constitution!

Waiting to tell the truth for a book to be published is wrong!

I respect that it's Stephen's show, and he can bring on whoever the hell he wants as a guest, but I'm honestly a little disappointed he went ahead with this one. Esper sat on this information for the longest, and now he wants to put a dollar sign on it after the fact. If you ask me, he's in the same dumpster as Bill Barr and the other book-peddlers: a bunch of self-serving bastards.
