Although it sounds like a Matrix knockoff, it might surprise you to know that Dark City premiered in 1998, one year earlier than the Wachowski’s sci-fi masterpiece. In fact, there’s a third film-noir-influenced virtual reality movie released around the same time, the forgettable The Thirteenth Floor, but Dark City stands out from the other two in its metaphysical nature and stunning production design.

I just watched this movie, because i found it on a top 10 watchojo list.

And it blew me away.
I love this mocie with all of my heart, especially the mid part of the OST "Would you like to join me"
Trevor Jones did a fantastic job creating this.

It's a long time since I saw 'Dark City', but at the time it reminded me more of Gilliam's 'Brazil'. :)

Dude, Dark City is one of those "accidentally twin" movies that often come out. The resemblance is uncanny, even though is a completely different style of cinematography and storytelling.
It's a really cool and conceptual movie, if it had came out 2 years prior, probably would've been more successful.

I like how you look at movies. I like to read books but I'm not a huge movie watcher. I do enjoy movies where every scene matters. Every scene means something for later.
