I rented from an Asian couple years ago. The unit was 309. My Chinese friend laughed and said “of course they bought a unit with a number like that.” Well, now I know!

I worked for a tourism company whose last four digits of the telephone number were 4444. They never booked any Chinese tourists!

My son was born of 8/8/1980 and turned 8 on the 8/8/88. The local newspaper held a party for all the children turning 8 on that day. 6 children attended and also a man who was turning 88.

that's exactly why me and my taiwanese boyfriend picked 08/08 to be our anniversary. We didn't have a clear begining of the relationship so we decided to wait a month and then set it as the day we wanted.

both of our cultures "like" this number and as a bonus in mine its about the repetitiveness of the numbers

edit: we broke up lol

I live in China.

Some apartment buildings here don’t have a forth floor. Even weirder that some have floors 13a AND 13b to skip 14.

Now my western mind sees not one but TWO unlucky floors when apartment shopping. 😅

1 is lonely, 3 is life, 13 = lonely life... hmm that is indeed unlucky xD

In cities in Malaysia we have so many high rise buildings with 3A labelled as the 4th floor… Its confuses a lot of people, mostly children, tourists & out of town locals alike. Its very annoying. 🤭

As someone born on the 13th... I will take this to mean i'm better than everyone. Your misfortune is my gain.

13 is unlucky and 1 + 3 is 4. Coincidence? I think not! 😂

SO many Chinese students offered to buy my phone number from me in undergrad, it was a combination of 6s, 8s and 9s.

My birthday is 8/8 and my first name has 8 letters, and I am quite fortunate seeing as I'm still here😂

I remember my Chinese teacher talking about the number once. He told us it's very rude to give someone a watch for their birthday day because "watch" sounds like "death" in Chinese. Meaning you're basically wishing them death on their birthday 😅 Also, some people would pay to have phone numbers, car plate numbers etc

Hey, we skip the thirteenth floor in the US. I never thought about it being a different floor number in other places. That's cool. ✌️

13 is not an unlucky number for everyone. In Judaism, 13 represents the 13 middos of rachamim, the 13 traits of mercy that G-d has, so it is a very good number in that particular culture. Also, for people who liked baked goods, a baker's dozen is 13.

when i was on a school trip to China i remember thinking it was super neat that one of the hotels we stayed in skipped the 4th, 13th, and 14th floors for this reason!

13 isn't unlucky for me. 13 is great.
