The New MuseScore 4 Playback System is Insane 🤯

MuseScore 4 was just officially released, and the new playback audio for strings, brass, and choir are absolutely astonishing. This is J.S. Bach's "O Mensch, bewein deine Sünde groß" written into four voice parts.

It does have a harder time in faster tempo tho. But I get that it’s a work in progress so I’m hyped to see what they will do with it in the future!

My only complaint with MuseScore 4.0.0 is that all the brass and most of the woodwinds sound like they're "stuck in a tunnel." Even after playing with the new mixer they still can barely be heard at even forte.

Woah, I haven't touched Musescore in 2 years. Maybe it's better now for other instruments, too.

Sounds beautiful. I downloaded it yesterday after trying for two days, and the MuseSounds kept getting stuck on the last module. So yesterday I did it in the early morning hours and it went fine. Much faster download speed. Also though, I had to delete Muse Hub, MuseScore4 and the directory it stores the instruments in to get it to download.

People should be aware that MuseSounds is about 13GB. But if you don't have the space or have a very slow connection MuseSound4 comes with its own instruments built-in that will play. They just don't sound as good as the extra MuseSounds.

I am so hyped that you chose this exact Bach chorale to test out the new version of Musescore. I would have done this or Ich Ruff Zu Dir. Wonderful.

Still waiting for the new keys voices to be fixed, but I love how everything sounds. Also no unique Euphonium sound font is a huge L but what can ya do

Very nice. I appreciate the suspensions in that piece as well.

This is awesome! I know they'll be problems, as some people have said. But this sounds amazing.

My complaint with it so far is it is LUDICROUSLY slow to process/write to disk compared to 3. Actually even finale is much faster now, and Finale gives a "not responding" error for a moment every single autosave.

I hope they improve the soundfont in some ways, still... they did an amazing job, many bugs on 4.0, but amazing

I use only for two basic purposes:

1. Simple score editing in which I can fortunately create the most varied time signatures;

2. Illustration files to insert in Word files.

This is enough for my personal needs.

This is the most beautiful chorale ever oh my God

transitions between notes sound surprisingly realistic - not very MIDI at all. Is there a bit of portamento built in? Like it would be with an actual human voice?

I'm not sure if I'm the only one who can hear a C note in the end (probably due to overtone), which made the cadence interrupted... Still the sound quality is way better than the previous one.

thats cool, but did you really have to make this *40 beats per minute*

I mean... Bach is a really good choice for this because for 99.9% of his music timbre doesn't matter

Note performer blows this out of the water. No contest

I’m out of breath just listening to it

The solo violin sounds like a hurdy-gurdy though...😅
