The thousand sons drip with coolness does anyone have a color scheme that isn't a nightmare to paint?

got this a bit wrong- the thousand sons were always plagued by the "flesh change" which is when you body mutates by the warp. In fact, in 30 and 40k, psykers all run the risk of this, the thousadn sons, who were always favored by Tzeentch, just had it happen willy nilly almost (to include Ahriman's twin brother).

Anyway, those who touch/interact/travel through the warp run the risk of being "touched by" the warp.

Further, the thousand sons post "Rubric of Ahriman" (aka Rubric marines), didn't have thier minds wiped at all. They are lost in a state between reality and warp and is experienced as being lost in a sand storm (per the Ahriman Omnibus series of books). When a thousand sons sorcerer commands a Rubric marine, the marine experiences a temporary reprieve of the storm and is able to control his former armor. The Rubric Marines 100% remember and respond to their names, albeit telepathically.

I love how despite every against him Ahriman try to save his legion and brother and constantly try to break off tzeenich influance and set his brother free he is a blast of caractère better then the other chaos champions

Despite being dust the rubricae marine (those dust filled armor) are very reliable in combat but you need a sorcerer to guide them or they are literaly just armor

The part about the non psykers turning into dust always confused me as I thought the 1000 sons would only have psykers as that was part of Magnus gene seed.

not accurate.the legion was plagued by mutations from inception and it was accelerated by chaos so Ahriman cast the Rubric and they became what they are now

Fun side fact: Magnus the Red, the Primarch of the Thousand Sons was furious at Arhiman for casting the Rubric (the spell that made non-psychic marines into dust-filled animate armour) and the only thing that stopped him from killing the Arhi was direct intervention from Tzeench himself, telling him not to...

Tzeench played Arhiman right into the spell and kept Magnus from killing Arhiman. "It wasnt the gods who did this" yeah ok bro.

Spell needs to be explained. Known as the Rubric of Ahriman the caster and his covenant of 100 stood at the center and thought it would stabilize the mutation that was running rampant on the thousands sons. But instead it took the psychic potential of the legion and gave it to the top 1000 psychic sorcerers. This drain the life from the other 9, 000+ and sealed them in their suits.

The mutations were afflicting the TS long before the heresy, i believe it was tzeench that gave aruman the spell when they fled into the warp

Cool idea for Thousand Sons models... Cut them in half, hollow them out, put sand inside, put them back together.
When you shake them, they sound hollow, as if filled with dust.

Fun fact: Magnus the Red used the warp to project an image of himself to his father in order to warn him of Horus' betrayal. This severely pissed him off as he broke the rules, so he effectively disowned Magnus.

it was the thousand strongest psychers that got to remain flesh
