Welcome back! It was a massive step shutting down production for over a week and it looks like that time has been used to fix the issues and move forward stronger and brighter 💪 here for it!

I've been away and catching up with everything. Just wanted to say it's great to see you back and hear about all the changes and improvements you've all worked on. Much respect for shutting down production to review and take action, looking forward to what's next!

Here's an idea. Go for ISO 9001 certification for your processes. It's not easy but helps ensure you have everything documented and adhered to and can easily catch mistakes if they happen.

The business management side of LTT is sometimes more interesting than the tech stuff.

Make a week of introspection a yearly thing. Maybe not stop all production work, but plan it so there's plenty of space for some serious chats and reviews of procedures and how everyone is doing.
In all honesty, sometimes, you've got to fuck it up badly to see where it's gone wrong.
Glad to see you post again

Quality and accuracy absolutely has to be PRIORITY NUMBER 1 for a channel like this otherwise you erode (and possibly lose) any credibility that the very definition of a review site is founded on. LMG is big enough now and certainly produces enough revenue that they can spend a little extra time and money to make their best effort to eliminate mistakes, misleading content and maximize accuracy. If this effort is genuinely being embraced by the group then I look forward to the improved results. Review sites like this are very important for balancing commerce and for consumers and manufacturers both. Best wishes for LMG.

Having worked at some very large companies I would try to steer away from having employees hash out issues with eachother unless its a minor complaint. Making sure that they always have the option of having HR at least mediate is very important.

If there are on screen corrections, make sure to play a sound effect so that people who don't watch, but just listen to the video can know that there was a correction displayed

Something I’d like to see moving forward is a distinction between labs-approved content and all the other. Maybe something in the title or thumbnail, but a quick way for people to tell whether this has been thoroughly reviewed, or is more focused on entertainment

I’m a massive LTT fan, and this whole situation just disappointed me. “We didn’t sell it, we auctioned it.” Actually baffled me. I hope Linus is doing better and that what happened was a massive wake up call for him. He got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, and his original response was bad.

Unfortunately, this video does not address the Madison situation. Her claims of being unheard by HR is not addressed and instead we are given an overview of their HR counsel history and their steps of escalation, but why did it fail for Madison? The workload overload that she claims does not claim that LTT is 24/7 sweatshop, she claims that employees are expected to do tasks outside of working hours offsite.

You should take a week off for this every year. Might be healthy for a company like this, focused on having to pump out content.

Suggestion: as you continuously (hopefully) improve your processes, please keep in mind that "you cannot inspect quality into a product". As a former Quality Assurance Engineer, I would say that your new processes will help to catch errors, and that is great. However, you should also focus on preventing them as much as possible to begin with.

Another suggestion would be to start tracking errors and their severity. Thresholds can be set on this data that can proactively indicate the health of your processes and hopefully prevent LMG from "going this far off the rails" again.

I would also highly recommend starting a "Lean" culture. The concept of lean manufacturing has been around for a while. You could adapt a lot of those cultural concepts to workplace processes. I particularly like the "2 Second Lean" book. I think you can read it for free. If the LMG teams can focus on process improvement, not "inspections", more time can be spent providing better content without sacrificing quality. Inspections, or content reviews in LMG's case, will probably always be necessary, but LMG should create a culture that can continuously eliminate sources of error.

I appreciate the efforts LMG is making to address the issues brought up by the community. I want LMG, and other Tech media organizations, to succeed. I think that Louis Rossman said the following a few time, "the internet does not really have a good or standard way of forgiving an entity after they take action to improve." I want to forgive and trust LMG or any other entity that finds itself similarly lost (hopefully temporarily).

Glad to hear that LTT kept their word on their internal audits, releasing the report. That's respectable

- Did not monetize the video
- Did not push random sponsorship jokes in here
- Did not push blame onto others (except anons online harassing LMG employees, which is a good call)

- Visible proof of current systems and what's changed to address the issues raised
- A reasonable, realistic commitment to do better
- Saying sorry and that you care

This is what we wanted from the beginning, but it just blew out of proportion with the attempt at a really fast turnaround on this kind of message. It takes time and involves a LOT of moving parts. Thank you for your commitment to continue being an industry leader and work to make sure all of your content and culture consistently reflects that status. I hope it comes to fruition.

I see that a lot of other people have already said this, but I want to be more literal about it. It would be so nice to have a stamp or some kind of logo on a video that has been labs tested and approved, just to make the distinction that much more clear. Imagine you just have a flask in the corner of charts that you want to make clear this data is as correct as you can get it. This is the kinda transparency that I would like to see, and I think it would bring more legitimacy to you data.

I have no idea what happened and watch these videos very occasionally but I'm a fan of taking action on issues and on quality over quantity
