You can see both the physical pain and disappointment in his face when he realized "this is it - I just can't do it anymore."  Sad, but he gave us such great moments in skating.  He is definitely my favorite skater of all time.

The only bad thing about Skating is how short their career is. Dance of any type is hard on the body. But I'm glad he had a successful career.

He could have been third time Olympic champion if he had kept himself for the individual competitions but he choosed to skate for the Russian team too. True champion !
He's classy and has sense of humour.I always liked his personality. And no, he's not arrogant contrary to what this lady says in the video. He was just self confident and he knew he was the best on ice.

Such a sad and dreadful moment....I cannot forget Evgeni's face and his deep disappointment in front of his home crowd.   He's always been my favourite and I wish to thank him for all his wonderful performances during his long and glorious career.  The KING of the ice forever!

I watched all his competitions at the Olympics since 2002, then the gold at 2006, I cried when they took his gold medal in Vancouver, I saw the rutine in team event at Sochi... And then, my heart broke when he finally retire after the back injury.
He is the best, as much as it hurts me, that day I realize that he had to take care of his health more than another medal.
I love him. He's the #1.

He and Yagudin wee the "golden time" of figure skating. The competition between these two brought the male figure skating to a complete new level. There will never be the "other Plushenko" or "other Yagudin" - they were that perfect.

I love the way Evgeniy Plushenko treats people around, his coach and the team. How sincere and simply he speaks when being interviewed. The fact that he was so faithful to his coach makes me to respect him even more! Evgeniy, we love you! Let your family and kids be happy and healthy!!!

He always accepted to be second (when it happened....), for example in Salt Lake City. He didnt accept it ONLY 1 time: in Vancouver. No other times. Thanks Plushenko for what you gave to Figure Skating.

I really like Evgeni, the first time I heard of him and saw him was actually in 2008 when he performed at the Eurovisiom Song Contest so later I searched him up and started following him. He is truly amazing

finally, this video worked for me. until now, it kept saying it wasn't available here in America. anytime we revisit 2.13.14 in footage, it's heart wrenching for me because I saw that happen live. and it was only a few days ago I saw him skate for the first time and fell in love with him.
Bittersweet for sure. I grimaced when he said if not for getting silver in Vancouver, he wouldn't have skated in Sochi. But if he hadn't, I wouldn't be here supporting him as I'd been since that day.

It was so sad that the skating world had lost such a graceful man. This made me cry just as much as I was when it happened at the games. I just wish him heath and luck for his future.

The scenes as he warmed up...devastating. It was obvious he could barely walk, let alone skate. I was actually relieved he withdrew because I really thought he was going to make a go of it and I think that would have been cataclysmic for his health. Poor guy
