The 1991 liberalisation left the financial sector unreformed. The uncompetitive finance system whose growth depends on taxpayer bailouts needs to be replaced.

Make Ila ji the new FM, put the opposition under house arrest like in Kashmir & then privatize all the banks, bring in land reforms, disinvest as much as you want.

Govt should build infrastructure.India's problem root cause is govt shirking its core responsibility.Economic cycle come and go, but governance remains poor.It is the govts job to provide basic things like healthcare, education and infrastructure.

I think subsidies should be more streamlined specially in Fertilizer and food.. Leakages in both of these should be checked. There is also reports of fertilizer smuggling to Myanmar from Assam and other North Eastern states.

Great episode. I think the clamor for RBI's powers vis-a-vis oversight of public and private banks and has been a topic of discussion since a few years iirc, and gained traction, albeit for different reasons, after the Nirav Modi incident.

Hope the financial sector reforms are given some priority in this term. The political cost should be a non-issue hopefully since this dispensation brazens through other policy matters,

Chutiya reporter feels compelled to remind us that 2008 was the global crisis, so that we don't blame the problem of that time on the Congress even though we all know that India wasn't affected by that crisis at all since it had minimal exports and all the exports were in service ( IT sector ) which didn't slow down but accelerated.
