@AlbzAbert That would suggest that the headphones I discuss in the videos or forums represent every headphone I come across. More headphones and other audio gear come through here than I could ever cover in the videos--*far* more. Different things motivate different people; but what motivates me to step in front of the camera more than anything is sharing my feelings about (and experiences with) products I think sound great, products that excite me.

@derbigpr500 If your'e going to be running a Sennheiser HD600/650 out of a world-class amp, you're going to get better performance that way than from the RS 220. The RS 220 does sound HD600'ish, driven well--a good HD600 setup, but not a world-class one. I hope that clears up my opinion. I've been using the RS220 in my upstairs rig, and I don't miss the wires at all.

Also, regarding source: It has digital and analog inputs. I use its optical input (fed from a MacBook Pro).

@HiFiReviewer Part 2 is coming up, followed by an episode about Tokyo and the Tokyo Headphone Festival. We were delayed by our work on our gift guide, which you can download for free on Head-Fi.org.

@derbigpr500 I think you're going to love the RS 220 then.

Usually agree, but LCD-3 best value? Essentially physically the same, same lesser comfort levels compared to HD800/T1 etc. Bulk of the extra cost is a diagram change which might actually cost LESS to manufacture. New leather cups then? Imo this is poor value. I'd imagine profit mark up over LCD2.1's is considerable, audio differences aren't even drastic. Fine tuned but still lacking the soundstage of competitors. Then there's the manufacturing indiscrepancies (check Head.fi forums). Poor pick.

@headfi Well said Jude! Personally I think you're honest about what you think about various products, and what I appreciate is that you take the time to put your recommendation of the product in context - i.e. we know when you're recommending a great mobile headphone vs one you'd use at home. As a result this is on my maybe list, especially as it's essential a 'phone and DAC/amp in one. Oh and I like that your enthusiasm comes through when a product deserves it

Hey Mr Head Fi, could you make an episode for amateur audiophiles? I believe many people want to get into the audiophile hobby but need to have a place to start. I too have just started the hobby and would like you to make an episode on cheaper, but good audiophile gear. Thanks :L

I am looking for CLOSED full size high end headphones that are preferably of German or Japanese make, and are under $700. Any suggestions? Oh and I listen to trance, house, techno, electro house, dance and some hip hop/rap. And how are the V-Moda Crossfade LP2?

I have an RS 160. Can I pair the RS220 headphones to my RS160 transmitter? Both are KLEER audio transmitters. It would be amazing if I can take the RS220 on the road.

The 009 is indeed a bloody damn good headphone, but at that price point of 10K and onwards I personally would start looking at speakers..

Part II:
my questions:
-in which shops can i listen to these headphones? i live in germany and the "huge" electronic markets usually dont have them or u cant listen to them, but id like to
-im studying so the lower the price the better, are there special webplatforms like ebay or amazon where i can purchase HIFI equipment cheaper?
-i use an old ipod mini, does this has an influence on the sound ive heard they werent hat good that time
-i like all genres mostly funky stuff
thank you in advance

I need advice, im searching for portable headphones mainly for skating, bikeing and walking through the city. i currently own an AKG K142 HD which i use for studiomonitoring and listning to music at home, and its one of the few headphones i listened too which i really like the sound of, but they are very large and inhandy for things like i mentioned. ive watched some of your vids and took notices:
-sennheiser hd 25 1 II
-V-Moda M-80
-beyerdynamic dt 1350
-shure srh 840

@headfi Thanks for the answer. I'm running HD650's trough a pretty low-end 250 dollar amp, and I feel like they're not working at their full potential. RS220 would probably be a better and cheaper choice. And I HATE wires on HD650's, the cable is very heavy. Being able to walk around the room or house without having to take headphones off and still get great sound would be great.

Let me just get one thing straight....RS220 do not need any kind of additional amp, they just need a source, and they will sound as good as HD600? Well, looks like i just blew loads of money on a HD650 then. :P If RS220 sounds as good as a well amped HD600, and RS220 cost the same as HD600 (at least in my country), then I see why you'd choose them for product of the year. I think I'm gonna buy them if they're comfortable enough.
