Straw Man Fallacy Example

Widely used in all kinds of debates The Straw Man Fallacy is a mistake in ones logical reasoning and should never be used in an arguments. When a point is made one will argue against a completely different point and use this as a victory over the original point.

Honestly, from doing some research on the meaning. I've seen people misuse this term in a convosation. It's a new term some learned and like to use it without knowing the true meaning.

Person A: I just read that United Airlines has committed to having 50% of pilot trainees be women or people of color. Seems arbitrary. Shouldn’t an airline be most concerned with having the best pilot regardless?
Person B: You have a problem with women and people of color.
Person A: That is not at all what I said.

Part of the problem here is the first guy doesn't present any logical argument. He simply states that I think cannabis should be legal, but never explains any logical reason why to refute.

Great video as always, but I want to ask a question related to the phenomenon about people who constantly use logical fallacies in arguments.

The question comes when the other party keeps on using logical fallacies such as the Straw Man or attack the person to deliberately push their ideas out without ever really taken into account of your real position(the motive could be ignorance, malice, stiff belief, etc.), we see that in some of today's political debates or altercations with people in our lives. When the other party is not in good faith while engaging in arguments, what should one do? What could one do to lead an argument toward understanding instead of red faces and finger pointing? If the interlocutor is indeed engaging the argument in bad faith, what are the things we can do?

Strawman arguement is where you try to dismantle the arguement through deductive reasoning where spacification is not needed but generalization is.
