Heb. 4:1 "Let us fear, therefore, lest haply, a promise being left of entering into his rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it."

The type was that on the Sabbath day, man had to cease from his own works. The only works that were legal on the Sabbath is God's works. We've entered into the Sabbath and our works are not legal in the New Testament. That's called works of the flesh, salvation by works. And we have to cease from our works and rest as it says in Hebrews chapters 3 and 4.

God warns us that we have to enter His rest which is ceasing from our works. According to type, if we're not ceasing from our works, then we're not entering into God's work.

Heb. 4:3 "For we who have believed do enter into that rest; even as he hath said, As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world."

When you believe the word of God, the promises of God, you cease from your works and enter into the rest because everything was accomplished at the cross and there is nothing you can do to save yourself, to heal yourself or to deliver yourself, except to exercise faith in God to bring it to pass.

Heb. 4:9 "There remaineth therefore a sabbath rest for the people of God." A continuing of rest.

The Sabbath was manifested in the New Testament by the promise of God. It's a continual rest. It's not just a day anymore; we rest from OUR works every day so God can do His works through us!

Php. 2:13 "for it is God who worketh in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure."
