As two of the most recognizable actors in the world, you'd expect that there would be a little healthy competition between Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.

Still love this movie so regardless of their personal beef they still did great jobs

Well, Lestat rubs Louis the wrong way in the book as well so their personal beef might actually have translated into the perfect dynamic between the two characters.

Personally I was furious when Tom Cruise was announced to play Lestat. A mainstream action star, wth? But I had to eat my words big time - Lestat was the best part of the movie. Cruise must consciously choose main stream movies because he is actually one hell of a good❤ actor.

Tom was acting his tail off and Pitt couldn’t get away with just being pretty. Resenting someone for being friendly with handshakes, sure Jan.

I loved TC portrayal of Lestat. He is an awesome actor. Tom understood the assignment. Brad performance to me was lackluster. Brad was simply eye candy. While Tom Cruise and Kirsten Durst held the movie.

“blood brothers“ ah yes. I too have way too much sexual tension and a whole ass daughter named Claudia with my blood brother. So straight. So bromantic.

Y’all know this role is why Angelina even gave Brad a chance 😂😂😂

I loved this movie, but seeing Cruise on various interviews and hearing others talk about him, I can see how he could be hard to work with.

Everyone got the memo about the movie. Everyone was IN it. Never seen a more sexual charged vampire than Antonio Bandera’s Armund. The only one that didn’t want to be an actor was Brad Pitt. Let’s just say we’re spoiled with our new Louis.

Them not getting along really makes sense now, rewatching it, the characters are polar opposite in the novel and Louie does help kill him with Claudia so yeah the real dislike it helped to create such a original and terrifying film.

I just saw the movie yesterday after over a decade and it was like new! Young Christian Slater and Antonio Banderas did great as well! They all did a phenomenal job on the movie ! Thanks Pitt/Cruise for keeping up the roles despite your dislike of each other❤

Their lack of chemistry showed in the film, unfortunately. Unlike the AMC series where the two lead actors are super close in real life, the movie version never really sold the idea of Lestat and Louis being soulmates.

I’m so glad we now have the show.

One is laid back and reserved, the other is theatrical and self aggrandizing... It works

Misleading as hell. Pitt wanted to opt out because the constant darkness of the nightshoots were making him miserable. It had nothing to do with Cruise, as he has said on several occasions.

The tension between Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt works for the movie. This is my favourite vampire movie.

If anything the personal beef between them only added to the necessary drama between Louis and Lestat onscreen! I do like how Brad and Tom were very professional and amicable in their interviews at the time this movie came out and gave respect and credit to one another for their performances. They both actually seem like gentlemen and I wish they could have gotten along better. Because man could they have been a power duo if they made more movies together! Does anyone know what exactly happened between them on set? I have heard conflicting stories and rumors.
