Capsaicin is basically pure spiciness, and it's the main chemical that gives chili peppers their heat. Even in the stronger ones like habaneros, there's actually very little in each pepper. It's so strong that when I've tried it in its pure form, I don't even find it very spicy, and it kind of just hurts.

I’ve straight up ate a ghost pepper right off the plant, and the weirdest part isn’t how you feel like your going to through up for five hours, or how if you don’t keep your tongue under water for ten minutes straight or else you’ll be in intense pain; in my opinion the weirdest part is the you feel nothing for about ten second, just long enough for you to gain confidence that you can handle it, then it hits you like a speeding bullet train
