MIKE SHOWS HOW CARVING A SIMPLE WOODEN SPOON CAN BE VERY ENJOYABLE AND RELAXING. A little spot up a creek sets the stage for this project. Mike carves a leaf-shaped spoon made from birch wood, using hand tools he received from BeaverCraft * LINKS BELOW * As a #sponsored associate of BeaverCraft I may earn fees for purchases

Once you take up carving, you're never going to want to stop.
Today, I'm going to carve a simple project, just for the fun of it.
It's going to be a Birch-themed wooden spoon.
I've heard a lot of people say that they would like to start carving, but just don't think they have the talent for it.
Well, Bob Ross once said, " Talent is a pursued interest; anything you're willing to practice, you can do"
Some of the first things I started carving was wooden spoons, cups and little twig roosters. I had a lot of fun making them and giving them away as gifts.
Pearl wasn't sure what to think of her reflection.
The only way to experience the joy of carving is to get yourself a good set of carving knives and start whittling.
Thanks for watching! I'll see you all on the next one!

My 3 children and I love to lay down and turn on your videos. They're always excited to see Pearl. Even my youngest at 3 years of age can easily see the bond you two have is priceless.
Thank you for sharing your talents with us in such a beautiful way.
My wife is from a small town outside of Lexington, KY - they have to drag me home to FL every year - kicking and screaming.
I'll take a cool mountain stream flowing through an old growth forest over a sweltering crowded beach any day.
Happy Holidays!

Hi Mike.
loved the video and Happy Thanksgiving to you and Pearl and your Family.
I was watching Bob years ago, and he was talking about HIS Teacher of Art...
he said he was asked "Bob,
What do you love to Paint..and he said " I guess I love to paint the Trees. "
His Teacher said..Well, then Paint those Trees.
and he said it stuck.
I loved that. You're loved a lot out here Mike. see you and Pearl soon! Thanks again!!

Great video. I'm a new carver and your first carvings are exactly what I like to carve. There's nothing better than taking a piece of wood from a tree and making a spoon or a rooster from it. Thanks for sharing your talent.

Oh my goodness Mike, that is so beautiful. What an awesome place to sit and carve, by the water. With the cute Pearl next to you, I just love her face. Thanks for sharing, take care as always from South Africa

I've always likened you to Bob Ross, I'm not particularly interested in carving but watching your videos always seems to melt all of life's stress and anxiety away. Thank you, from canada!

Pearl so cute in her sweater, God bless her. Great spoon carving. Great starter project for those afraid of just beginning to carve. As artists, we both know it's not about the skill we worry about but the joy of the process that brings us peace. God bless you and your channel. May you bring many the *Joy of Carving.*
