Editorial
I had got well ahead with this issue of Audion completing much of it back in April, after which finishing the layout of our forthcoming French book "Twilight of the Alchemists" was the priority, followed by lots of web work, whilst publishing more recent Audion issues in printed form, and sundry other jobs took priority. Coming back to Audion 79 two weeks ago I did think that I'd completed it all, but there was still lots to do. Best laid plans and all that!
The front cover article is again the latest in the ongoing series: Scandinavian fusion legends with the wonderful Secret Oyster, which was certainly one of the most complex articles I've constructed yet due to it involving three interviews! Two more interviews also feature here, one with the synthesist Steve Hillman, and another with the prolific German musician Sula Bassana (aka Dave Schmidt) from Zone Six, Electric Moon, etc., plus the final instalment of the "Rock In Opposition" series and part one of the final label of the "Choice British Label Classics" series discussing Virgin Records.
Those that indulge in the multimedia download edition will also get two bonus pdf specials, a 4-page Sula Bassana discography supplement, and a 12-page Virgin supplement of a similar design to the Vertigo one given away with Audions 77 & 78.
As usual, it's quite a hefty read, and again I economised a bit on pictures, which meant I could keep it down to a more practical 44 pages. All that leaves me to say is enjoy, and may Audion 79 help you discover lots of great new music.
