Japanese arcades celebrated the 25th release anniversary of the original beatmania on Dec. 10, 2022. I made a short video detailing why I enjoy this original series so much, and included short clips of the original home release being played on the PlayStation.

Music during introduction:
Song 1: "Woodpecker"

I love playing the Original Beatmania songs on my version of StepMania with my DJ Troopers Skin, I alyways play IID in 5-Key mode whenever i can find it either emulated or in Arcades. Happy 25th Beatmania 5-Key Series!

I really enjoyed the original 5 key Beatmania when I got to play it in arcades and on home console. Before that, I was really into DDR, but Beatmania required more skill and had a somewhat wider variety of music. One arcade at a mall near me had Hip Hop Mania Complete Mix 2, which I played a few times. I even got to play a Beatmania III at my local arcade, which had some of the clearest sounding music at the arcade to me thanks to the large amount of speakers and sound options. I am not sure even IIDX compares to how good BM III made songs sound.

My only issues with 5 Key Beatmania was that a lot of the songs were too short for me and sounded somewhat simple. I noticed it wasn't until about 6th Mix or so where the songs started sounding and having more complex note charts. Also after a while, 5 key beat mania feels kind of limited compared to IIDX.

I still play IIDX today, even though I should be able to play 12 star songs based on how long I played these games, I still enjoy the challenges and music each new game brings.
