Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro cancels weekend plans as Kamala Harris gets set to make VP pick

CBS News has learned that one of Kamala Harris' top contenders for running mate, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, has canceled a fundraising trip in New York this weekend amid speculation he could be her choice. CBS News campaign reporter Aaron Navarro has more.

I would bet on Shapiro because he is the perfect VP profile of winning presidential campaigns like Dan Quayle, Al Gore, Joe Biden, and Mike Pence. Underwhelming presence with enough trying hard persistence, and not enough to overshadow the charisma of the main presidential candidate. Shapiro even looks a bit like Al Gore. So he is a winner. Pete Butegieg is simply too charismatic and glib. I think he would be a perfect VP pick for Shapiro eight years hence.

I couldn't understand why people kept saying no to Shapiro that he would cost her votes, but now I realize it's because he's Jewish and the war in Gaza not sitting well with a lot of people. They got to understand that Kamala wouldn't be picking him because he's Jewish, she already has a Jewish husband so the voting bloc know there is support there. What she really needs his help with is winning Pennsylvania, because if she wins all three of the blue wall states then she wins the election.

Let's keep our eye on the prize, fam. The electoral college. Consider the calculus. Minnesota and Illinois are reliably Democratic. We get those electoral votes anyway. Kentucky and Indiana are reliably Republican. We lose those electoral votes anyway.
Shapiro is effectively governing the most balanced state legislature in the country and is popular there. To get anything done (i.e.: SCOTUS reform), if we win, we can't afford to lose the Arizona senate seat moving forward. We're walking a very tight rope. Let's take care of our business in house, before the opposition burns it down. We can sort out the differences between us, amongst ourselves, afterward.
I think we know what needs to happen. Beware of sabateurs. Let's go!
